Can LEO Token (LEO) Price Reach $100 by the End of 2025?
Mar 14, 2025 at 05:06 am
The LEO token has quietly carved out a unique niche in the cryptocurrency ecosystem

The LEO token has quietly carved out a unique niche in the cryptocurrency ecosystem since its debut in May 2019.
As the utility token of the Bitfinex exchange and the broader iFinex ecosystem, LEO has defied the volatility of many altcoins, maintaining steady growth and investor interest despite a turbulent macroeconomic landscape.
With the LEO price currently hovering around $9.69 (as of March 13, 2025, per Coingecko), the question on many traders’ minds is whether LEO can achieve the ambitious milestone of $100 by the end of 2025. After all, this would represent over 9x gains from the current price level.
Let’s delve into the factors that could propel the LEO token price to $100 in 2025.
LEO Token Overview
The LEO token was launched by iFinex, the parent company of Bitfinex, to address a financial shortfall after funds from its payment processor, Crypto Capital, were seized by authorities in April 2019.
To mitigate this setback and continue operating smoothly, iFinex announced plans to launch a token that would be used for internal purposes and sold to a limited group of investors.
This initiative took the form of a private initial exchange offering (IEO), where 1 billion tokens were created, with 720 million allocated for the IEO and the remaining 280 million reserved for internal use by iFinex.
The IEO, which began on May 8, 2019, and concluded on May 14, 2019, saw overwhelming interest as investors quickly subscribed for all 720 million tokens at a starting price of $1 per token.
The IEO funds were utilized to repay a portion of the funds seized from Crypto Capital, and the IPEG tokens used for the offering were subsequently burned, leaving only the LEO tokens in circulation.
The LEO token price quickly rose above $2 as the IEO concluded, and by the time it landed among the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, the price had surged to $3.87.
Unlike many speculative assets, the LEO token serves a practical purpose within the iFinex ecosystem. Holders of the token are eligible for tiered trading fee discounts, lending benefits, and other perks with the Bitfinex exchange.
A defining feature of the LEO token is its token burn mechanism. From the exchange’s monthly revenue, at least 27% is dedicated to repurchasing and burning LEO tokens at market rates, reducing the total supply over time.
As of today, March 13, the circulating supply is approximately 923.95 million tokens (out of an initial 1 billion), and the market cap stands at $8.95 billion. This deflationary strategy could be crucial for boosting the LEO price if demand remains robust.
Current LEO Price and Market Sentiment
The LEO token price is currently at $9.69, reflecting a 0.6% increase in the past 24 hours and a remarkable 62.7% surge over the last year, according to data from Coingecko.
Its 24-hour trading volume is $2.64 million, indicating moderate liquidity for a top-tier altcoin, currently ranked #12 on Coingecko.
The Fear & Greed Index for the LEO token on CoinMarketCap is 71, signaling greed among investors, a bullish sign suggesting optimism in its near-term prospects.
Over the past 30 days, the LEO token price saw 17 green days (57%), highlighting its resilience amid broader market fluctuations.
Analysts and technical indicators paint a mixed but cautiously optimistic picture with the Relative Strength Index (RSI 14) hovering around neutral territory (58), suggesting neither overbought nor oversold conditions.
Meanwhile, the 50-day moving average is trending downward on shorter timeframes, hinting at a softening short-term trend, yet long-term sentiment remains bullish due to the LEO token’s consistent yearly gains.
Why LEO Price May Surge
* Strong ecosystem: The Bitfinex exchange, a leading cryptocurrency platform, and the broader iFinex ecosystem provide a robust framework for the LEO token. Bitfinex is known for its wide range of cryptocurrency derivatives, futures, and spot markets, catering to both individual traders and institutional investors.
Moreover, Bitfinex is a significant participant in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space, offering lending and borrowing services for crypto assets. These activities generate a substantial revenue stream, a portion of which is allocated to buying back and burning LEO tokens. This deflationary mechanism could be crucial in driving up the token price in the long run.
* Token utility and burns: As a multi-tiered program,
