LayerZero Ends ZRO Token Claim Period, Proceeds to the Next Token Redistribution Phase
Sep 21, 2024 at 05:03 pm
LayerZero has called the end of the ZRO token claim period and is now proceeding to the next token redistribution phase. However, only active wallets with transaction histories will be eligible for redistribution, leaving out inactive or audited Sybil wallets.

LayerZero has announced the conclusion of the ZRO token claim period, with a new phase of token redistribution set to begin. Only active wallets with transaction histories will be eligible for this redistribution, excluding inactive or audited Sybil wallets from further airdrop allocations.
In June, LayerZero announced plans to redistribute any unclaimed ZRO tokens among users who had already claimed them once the claim period ended. However, the protocol did not disclose the planned end date for the claim period at the time.
Only the reallocation details were shared, stating that it would be aligned with LZ Core’s allocation and distributed proportionally, with a cap in place to ensure all ZRO tokens are utilized effectively.
Now, with the announcement of the claim period’s end on September 20, LayerZero has also revealed the eligibility criteria for receiving additional tokens.
As per the公布的细节, wallets with no transaction activity and Sybil wallets identified in the first or second round of reviews will be ineligible for any further reallocation. This means that only wallets with at least one transactional activity post-Token Generation Event (TGE) and had previously claimed the airdrop will be qualified.
The company also clarified that all eligible wallets will receive a pro-rata share of ZRO based on their original claim from the TGE and that any ZRO tokens remaining unclaimed in the next 30 days will be donated to the LayerZero Foundation.
LayerZero’s airdrop faced mixed reactions from the crypto community
In June, LayerZero prompted its ZRO token holders to claim their slice of the planned airdrop, but the firm had a condition: all participants were required to make a 10% donation to the platform’s Protocol Guild to receive any additional tokens.
This donation requirement did not go down well with some token holders, with some criticizing the company for making the donations compulsory and others objecting to the general concept of an airdrop.
For example, Echo.xyz founder Cobie chimed in on the matter, commenting that airdrops currently have more significant risks than benefits and that most founders are likely not considering them.
LayerZero defended its decision to carry out an airdrop and its mechanics, stating that the donations would highlight the token holders’ commitment and long-term alignment to the protocol.
Some users also expressed concerns about the company’s request for Sybil airdrop farmers to self-report their activities, questioning the company’s airdrop plans.
