Khamzat Chimaev’s Problems Are Not Going to End Anytime Soon

Jul 08, 2024 at 03:48 pm

After being hospitalized and pulling out of his last fight, the Chechen warrior has now found himself in the middle of a crypto scam.

Khamzat Chimaev’s Problems Are Not Going to End Anytime Soon

Khamzat Chimaev has found himself at the center of a crypto scam, with his manager releasing a statement on the matter.

Chimaev promoted a Solana-based meme coin called SMASH on his social media, but the coin’s value резко упал more than 90% overnight.

The fighter’s manager stated that Chimaev took the deal without conducting thorough research and faced the consequences.

Chimaev’s manager also mentioned that the fighter had no knowledge of the situation and did not wish for his supporters to suffer.

The incident comes after rumors of Chimaev’s retirement from MMA, which were later cleared up by his manager.

Chimaev was set to face Robert Whittaker in the main event of the inaugural UFC Saudi Arabia before falling ill and being replaced.

Following Whittaker's victory over Chimaev's replacement, the 'Borz' expressed his desire to return to action on X.

After Chimaev's coins experienced a drastic decline in value within 24 hours, it引起了 the attention of several figures within the crypto community.

Prominent on-chain investigator ZachXBT took to X, sharing his findings on the matter and accusing Chimaev of engaging in pump-and-dump tactics.

In the realm of cryptocurrencies, pump-and-dump schemes often involve a celebrity investing in a token, aggressively promoting it to inflate its price, and subsequently selling their holdings to reap substantial profits.

Typically, this leads to a significant drop or even a complete crash in the token's price, impacting unwary holders.

The investigator employed a technique known as money tracking to identify Chimaev's involvement.

Here's what ZachXBT tweeted regarding the crypto controversy:

Khamzat your team is incompetent as you directly linked the team wallets with the insider wallets buying up 78%+ of the supply.

Why do all of you instantly nuke your reputation with meme coin scams?

Summary: Using timing analysis confirms 71% insider and dev team wallets…

These tweets quickly went viral, attracting a wave of criticism directed at Khamzat Chimaev and his team.

Several fans expressed disbelief at how Chimaev had gone from being one of the biggest rising stars in the UFC to allegedly scamming his fans for money.

Chimaev has since deleted all posts related to the coins and has yet to make any public statements regarding the incident.
