Injective Embarks on Major Pivot, Unveils Layer-3 Network on Ethereum

Injective, a blockchain platform initially built on Cosmos technology, is expanding its scope by launching a layer-3 network within the Ethereum ecosystem, leveraging Arbitrum's technology. The new layer, named "inEVM," is designed to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and aims to bridge three major blockchain networks: Ethereum, Cosmos, and Solana.

Injective Embarks on Expansive Pivot, Unveiling Layer-3 Network on Ethereum Ecosystem

Injective, a blockchain platform initially founded upon Cosmos technology, has witnessed a significant shift in its trajectory in recent months. Following an impressive surge that saw its INJ token soar by a remarkable 3,300% in value during 2023, INJ has encountered a downturn in 2024.

In a strategic repositioning, Injective is now poised to broaden its horizons by introducing a layer-3 network within the Ethereum ecosystem, leveraging the capabilities of Arbitrum. This novel layer, aptly named "inEVM," is meticulously engineered to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and aims to establish a bridge between three prominent blockchain networks: Ethereum, Cosmos, and Solana.

The inEVM will harness the power of Arbitrum's Orbit toolkit, a comprehensive suite that empowers developers to craft customizable chains while ensuring seamless interoperability across diverse ecosystems. This expansionary move holds immense potential to reignite interest in the INJ token, which outshone its counterparts last year, reaching a zenith of $4 billion in market capitalization. Despite the overall uptrend in the cryptocurrency markets in 2024, with the CoinDesk 20 index climbing 25%, INJ has experienced a depreciation of nearly 30% in its value.

According to Injective Labs, this initiative will not only stimulate development within the Ethereum layer-2 sphere but also preserve Injective's hallmarks of lightning-fast speeds and minimal transaction fees. Furthermore, operations conducted on the inEVM network will contribute to the Injective ecosystem's tokenomics through a mechanism that regularly incinerates a portion of all protocol charges.

Commenting on this pivotal development, Eric Chen, co-founder of Injective Labs, stated in a press release that the integration with Arbitrum represents a quantum leap in the evolution of blockchain networks and infrastructure. He underscored the paramount importance of interoperability in bridging the chasms between leading layer-1 platforms, thereby fostering a more fluid exchange of assets and liquidity across multiple blockchain ecosystems.
