Heritage Auctions is offering more numismatic rarities from the Otoh Collection that were created as part of an innovative strategy to put Bitcoin in a physical form. Bidding is already underway for the Physical Cryptocurrency Featuring the Otoh Collection, Part IV Platinum Session Signature Auction, which includes dozens of collectibles graded by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) and will be held June 6, 2024.
A top highlight in the sale is a 2012 Gold Casascius 1,000 Bitcoin – Unfunded graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo and pedigreed to the Otoh Collection (lot 30044). In 2012, 1,000 Bitcoins would have had a value of a few thousand dollars, and had this particular coin been loaded with that value, it would have been worth $100 million today, dwarfing the prices for the most expensive coins ever sold at auction. Today, these “Gold Cas” coins are extremely rare, sparking intense interest in the enthusiastic collecting community focused on physical cryptocurrency.
The auction also includes a 2017 Silver BTCC Mint 1 Bitcoin – S Series graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo and pedigreed to the Otoh Collection (lot 30023). Only 100 of these coins are thought to exist, and this one is currently tied for the highest grade in the NGC Census.
