Hawk Tuah Girl Distances Herself from Failed HAWK Memecoin Despite Previously Calling It a "Fully Compliant" Token She Was "Proud to Launch"

Hawk Tuah Girl Distances Herself from Failed HAWK Memecoin Despite Previously Calling It a "Fully Compliant" Token She Was "Proud to Launch"

Haliey Welch, who is known for her role in the "Hail, Oh, Hawk!" series on OnlyFans and LittleBits and was a sponsor of the HAWK memecoin last December, is now distancing herself from the token.

Welch, who is also the host of the Talk Tuah podcast, was recently questioned by the FBI and handed over her phone to the SEC, according to a new episode of her podcast. Both parties ultimately cleared her of any wrongdoing.

“They went through my phone, so they cleared me. I was good to go,” she said. “I wish we knew then what we know now.”

Welch, who is also known as "Hawk Tuah Girl," also dodged direct responsibility for the token scam, instead pivoting the conversation to how she was an unwitting pawn in a larger scheme.

“I don’t have anything to hide. They went through my phone, they went through everything and they cleared me and they said I was good to go,” she stated.

However, Welch's latest comments - in which she claims she didn't understand crypto and feels "sick" that fans trusted her - stand in sharp contrast to her original announcement in November 2024.

At the time, Welch said she was "excited to be part of meme culture" and had "learned so much" while working with launch partners to bring $HAWK to life. The token, which launched on Solana, briefly hit a $491 million market cap.

Welch's team previously claimed the project was fully compliant and backed by a Cayman foundation, and said her tokens would vest over three years.

Earlier this year, reports stated that customer losses from the failed token launch could be as high as $1.2 million. However, Welch claims the true loss figure is far lower.

According to the actress, the vast majority of the token's investors were not personally affected by the scam. Instead, they sold their HAWK tokens early on and booked a profit.

"They said the losses are $1.2 million but they are not. They are $180,000," claimed Welch.

"It was a new token launch and people who bought early sold early and the people who sold late took the loss. But a lot of people who bought early sold early and they made money."

HAWK token prices are down 99% since December, and the token is currently trading at a measly $104,000 market capitalization.
