Gold outshines D-St with 20% returns, but 2025 may be different

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) pulled out a net sum of Rs 480 crore from the Indian capital markets on Friday, largely due to selling activity in the debt segment.

According to the data available with the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), the net outflow stood at Rs 479.84 crore.

However, the total outflow was limited as the equities segment witnessed a net inflow of Rs 433.34 crore.

On Thursday, FPIs had infused a net sum of Rs 2,943.03 crore in the Indian capital markets.

With Friday's outflow, the total net FPI investment in the Indian capital markets stood at Rs 1.63 lakh crore so far in 2024.

Of the total, a net sum of Rs 83,333.33 crore was invested in the debt segment, while the net investment in the equities segment stood at Rs 80,003.44 crore.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex closed 194.33 points or 0.32 per cent lower at 60,674.22 on Friday. The Nifty50 fell 57.40 points or 0.31 per cent to end at 18,018.15.

Among the 30-share Sensex pack, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, Reliance Industries and HDFC were the major gainers, while NTPC, ITC, HDFC Bank, State Bank of India and IndusInd Bank led the losses.
