Fundstrat's Thomas Lee Doubles Down on Bitcoin, Predicts $150K by 2024

May 10, 2024 at 12:22 am

Despite recent market volatility, Fundstrat's CEO, Thomas Jong Lee, remains bullish on Bitcoin's future, predicting a potential surge to $150,000 by the end of the 2024 market cycle. Lee attributes this surge to increased demand for BTC, the implementation of the Rune Protocol, and a potential cooldown in U.S. inflation rates, which he believes will support Bitcoin's role as an inflation hedge.

Fundstrat's Thomas Lee Maintains Bullish Stance on Bitcoin, Predicts $150,000 by 2024

Despite the recent volatility in the cryptocurrency market, Fundstrat's indomitable CEO, Thomas Jong Lee, remains unwavering in his bullish optimism about Bitcoin (BTC). In a recent appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box, Lee reiterated his forecast that the digital asset could double its current value and reach a staggering $150,000 by the end of 2024.

Lee's unwavering belief in Bitcoin's potential is grounded in his analysis of the market fundamentals. He attributes the surge in BTC's price to its scarcity and increasing demand, as well as the implementation of the Rune Protocol, which has enhanced the functionality of the Bitcoin blockchain.

"Bitcoin would definitely make new all-time highs this year," Lee declared in an earlier interview with CNBC. "The hard part is to figure out what the ultimate high is going to be."

Lee's forecast is in line with his previous prediction that BTC could reach $500,000 in the long term. He believes that the cryptocurrency's store of value characteristics and its ability to hedge against inflation make it an attractive asset for investors during periods of economic uncertainty.

However, Lee acknowledges the current volatility in the crypto market. Bitcoin experienced a sharp surge to $73,000 in March, driven by the launch of Spot Bitcoin ETFs. However, it subsequently crashed by over 20% on April 20, following a halving event.

Despite these fluctuations, Lee remains confident in Bitcoin's long-term sustainability. He believes that the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, specifically potential rate cuts, could lead to an upward trajectory for Bitcoin's value in the latter half of 2024.

"I believe the Fed has enough flexibility to cut rates, which could lead to a deflationary outcome on their balance sheet," Lee said. "That would be a positive for Bitcoin."

Lee's bullish outlook on Bitcoin is in contrast to the cautious stance of some other market analysts. However, his track record as a seasoned market observer and his deep understanding of the cryptocurrency landscape lend credibility to his predictions.

As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, all eyes will be on Bitcoin's performance in the coming months and years. Whether Lee's forecast holds true or not, his unwavering optimism reflects the growing confidence in the long-term potential of digital assets.
