Following news that the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX may resume operations, its FTT token experienced a surge of over 35% to $2.46. The possibility of FTX restarting operations is being explored by a task force established by new CEO John Ray, who stated that "everything is on the table." This announcement has sparked excitement in the crypto community, with some stakeholders believing that FTX International could potentially repay its customers in full if it were to relaunch.

FTX Considers Resuming Operations, Sparking Surge in FTT Token
Amidst the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, FTX has announced the potential resumption of its operations, triggering a significant increase in the value of its native FTT token.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published on Thursday, FTX's new CEO, John Ray, revealed the establishment of an internal task force to explore the possibility of restarting the exchange.
"Everything is on the table," Ray emphasized. "If there is a path forward on that, then we will not only explore that, we'll do it."
The announcement sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency market, with the FTT token soaring by over 35% to $2.46, according to data from CoinGecko. This surge reflects investors' optimism and anticipation of a potential revival of the once-dominant exchange.
FTX has been inactive since November 2022, when it suspended withdrawals and froze user assets due to its inability to meet customer requests. The company's founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, subsequently relinquished control to Ray on November 11th.
Bankman-Fried has repeatedly expressed regret over this decision, claiming that the US arm of the exchange, FTX US, remained solvent and should not have filed for bankruptcy. He has also criticized Ray's leadership of FTX.com, the central entity serving international customers.
"Even now, I believe that if FTX International were to reboot, there would be a real possibility of customers being made substantially whole," Bankman-Fried stated in his newsletter on January 12th.
Ray, however, has dismissed the need for communication with Bankman-Fried. "We don't need to be dialoguing with [Bankman-Fried]," he told The Wall Street Journal. "He hasn't told us anything that I don't already know."
Despite the potential for FTX's return, stakeholders have raised concerns regarding the exchange's ability to compensate investors and customers who suffered significant losses during its collapse. The company faces numerous legal challenges and investigations, including criminal charges against Bankman-Fried.
The news of FTX's potential revival has brought mixed reactions from the cryptocurrency community, with some expressing cautious optimism while others remain skeptical about the exchange's true intentions and ability to regain trust.
As the bankruptcy proceedings continue, the future of FTX and its role in the cryptocurrency landscape remains uncertain. However, the resurgence of the FTT token underscores the volatility and potential for recovery in the digital asset market.
