Friday's Crypto Snapshot: Bitcoin Holds $80,000 as Ethereum Tests Support

The cryptocurrency market is at a crossroads this week as Bitcoin (BTC) tries to stabilize, holding steady near $80,000, while Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) test critical support zones.

Bitcoin's Tug of War at $80,000: Is the Rebound Losing Steam?

After briefly reclaiming $82,600 midweek, Bitcoin was once again rejected from its descending trendline, falling 3.64% to trade at $79,487 on Thursday.

The flagship cryptocurrency is still digesting its 10.55% drop from its recent April 2 high of $85,000.

Two technical scenarios now dominate trader discussions:

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) on lower timeframes suggests that although buying strength is returning, it remains weak, indicating that sellers are still in control in the short term. This could point to further downside pressure on Bitcoin if this support holds.

A break below $78,000 would likely trigger a steeper sell-off towards the next major support at $75,000, which is the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA).
