Ethereum Plummets in Crypto Market Correction

Apr 13, 2024 at 04:00 am

Ethereum has experienced a significant decline in recent hours, following a broader correction in the cryptocurrency market. On-chain indicators remain bearish, including a sharp decline in the ETHBTC ratio. This trend is strengthening sell positions and trapping aggressive buyers at each support level.

Ethereum Plummets in Crypto Market Correction

Ethereum Price Slumps Following Broader Crypto Market Correction

Introduction

The cryptocurrency market has witnessed a significant correction in recent hours, with Bitcoin and Ethereum experiencing notable price declines. Ethereum, in particular, has been affected by a combination of bearish on-chain indicators and market pressures, leading to a sharp drop in its price.

Market Liquidation and Bitcoin's Decline

Major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, have experienced substantial losses, resulting in the liquidation of positions worth approximately $900 million. Bitcoin's price has touched the $65,000 level, marking a 3% decrease in the past hour and a significant dip from its recent peak of $73,737 in March.

Ethereum's Steep Decline and Lagging Performance

Ethereum has suffered a more severe decline, dropping 4% in the past hour to a low of $3,100. This decline has been exacerbated by Ethereum's underperformance relative to Bitcoin, as evidenced by the ETHBTC ratio's significant downturn. The ETHBTC ratio has recently reached its lowest point since 2021, at 0.0473.

Factors Contributing to Ethereum's Underperformance

Several factors have contributed to Ethereum's lagging performance. Bitcoin's ascent to new all-time highs, the significant inflows into the BTC ETF, and the surge in trading volume of Bitcoin Ordinals have all played a role in strengthening Bitcoin's momentum. Additionally, anticipation of Bitcoin's upcoming supply halving has further boosted its value.

On-Chain Indicators and Whale Activity

On-chain data indicates that the Netflow metric has remained positive, suggesting substantial selling by whales during the recent decline. However, analysts view this decline as necessary to establish equilibrium ahead of the halving event. Following the downturn, Ethereum and Bitcoin prices have rapidly recovered above their immediate resistance levels.

Ethereum's Price Outlook

Ethereum has been trading within a range of $3,100 to $3,700 in recent days, reflecting a balance between buyers and sellers. However, the recent dip towards $3,100 has raised concerns. As of this writing, ETH trades at $3,220, down over 8.3% in the past 24 hours.

If the price falls to the support level of $3,000, buyers are expected to enter the market. A strong rebound from this point could indicate ادامه یافتن روند صعودی اتر در این محدوده قیمتی. However, after reaching $3.1K, buyers stepped in aggressively, pushing the ETH price above the immediate Fibonacci level of $3,200.

Conversely, a breakdown below $3,000 could signal the onset of a more significant downturn, potentially reaching as low as $2,700. To regain control, bulls must drive the price above $3,650. The current long/short ratio for ETH stands at 0.6804, with 59% of positions expecting an immediate price drop.
