Is the era of isolated blockchains coming to an end ?

This is certainly the strong signal sent by Chainlink, which has just activated its CCIP interoperability protocol on Solana.

Is the era of isolated blockchains coming to an end ?

The era of isolated blockchains might be coming to an end as Chainlink has activated its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) on Solana, marking the first deployment on a non-EVM blockchain with this integration.

Chainlink Connects Solana to CCIP Network

Chainlink Labs announced the activation of its CCIP on Solana, connecting it to the main CCIP-compatible networks like Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Arbitrum. The protocol will ensure the safe and efficient transfer of assets and data between chains, a need that is becoming increasingly pressing in decentralized finance.

Key features of this integration include:

This integration will also position Solana to attract institutional capital and strengthen the liquidity of tokenized real-world assets (RWA),” stated Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs.

The goal is to make Solana a trusted interoperability hub in the crypto universe, with security standards comparable to the largest EVM chains.

Tokenized Projects Deploy on Solana

Beyond the technological dimension, use cases highlight the immediate potential of CCIP on Solana. Among the first crypto projects to integrate this new interoperability are Maple Finance, Backed Finance, and Shiba Inu, via Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard.

According to reports, over 19 billion dollars in tokenized assets circulate through these solutions, and they will now be deployable within the Solana ecosystem.

Joe Flanagan, co-founder of Maple Finance, confirmed that their syrupUSD stablecoin would soon be bridged to Solana via CCIP, enabling liquidity on this blockchain.

This protocol is also attracting interest from emerging players like ElizaOS, an AI platform specialized in cross-chain autonomous agents.

Its founder, Shaw Walters, mentioned that their infrastructure would use CCIP to perform multi-chain tasks autonomously, showcasing interest in programmable interoperability.

Solana support integration via CCIP is also being prepared by solutions like Openocean and Transporter, indicating rapid adoption.
