DigitalX Bitcoin ETF to Go Live On July 12

DigitalX is set to launch a spot Bitcoin ETF on Australia’s main stock market ASX Ltd, becoming the second asset manager to secure approval for the bourse listing.

The DigitalX Bitcoin ETF will be listed on the ASX Exchange on July 12 under the ticker BTXX, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. DigitalX has partnered with K2 Asset Management and 3iQ for the upcoming Bitcoin ETF.

The listing comes less than a month after VanEck debuted its Bitcoin ETF on the ASX in June. Sydney-based fund manager BetaShares Holdings Pty has also applied to launch Bitcoin and Ether ETFs on the bourse.

“I believe this will attract new entrants into the market and ultimately allow institutions to include Bitcoin and digital assets into strategic asset allocations. That's really why we did it, but that is a much longer game,” said Lisa Wade, chief executive officer of DigitalX.

The listing on the ASX Exchange is a key development as it could lead to higher liquidity and trading volumes for the Bitcoin ETFs. Bloomberg had earlier predicted that VanEck’s Bitcoin ETF on the ASX could attract $1 billion in inflows.
