Development Activity on Ethereum Leads but Sees a Decline

Major blockchain networks experienced a decline in development activity over the past month, according to on-chain analytics platform Santiment.

Despite a 165.7K in new development events on Ethereum—placing it as the most actively developed blockchain—the network faced an 11.8% decrease in development activity.

The number of developer event contributors also saw a reduction of 2.54% to 1.7K, indicating less engagement from contributors.

Moreover, BNB Chain’s development activity decreased by 16.25%, logging 71.5K events. However, the number of developer event contributors increased by 0.78% to 904.

Polygon’s development activity underwent a significant decline of 21.87% to 66.8K events. Contributors on the network grew slightly by 0.86% to 704.

Arbitrum recorded 58.2K development events, presenting an 18.55% decrease in activity. Its developer event contributors increased by 3.03% to 578.

Optimism faced a 15.32% decline in active development, with 56.5K events recorded. The number of contributors to Optimism’s development events grew by 0.39% to reach 504.

Avalanche experienced a sharp decline in development activity, recording only 45.2K development events—a 21.81% reduction. Its contributor base increased by 4.49% to 442.

The Cosmos blockchain network saw 43.3K development events during the past month, with a contributor count that dropped by 5.91%.

Solana also saw a decline in development activity, with a 17.37% drop and 39.9K developer events recorded. Meanwhile, the contributor base for Avalanche grew by 2.63% to reach 429 developers.

Harmony faced a more substantial decline, with development activity decreasing by 24.93% to 38.7K events. Contributor numbers also fell by 2.62% to 371.

Polkadot followed a similar trend, with development activity decreasing by 14.9% to 33.1K events. The development community also declined by 1.52%, as contributor numbers dropped to 323.
