Coindesk Indices, an index measuring broader cryptocurrency market performance was up by 1.21%, with Bitcoin and rising by 1.57% and Ether dropping by 1.87%, in the past 24 hours. Top cryptocurrency performers on Friday were Sonic Labs (FTM), up 3.8%, following the release of Sonic Labs' litepaper detailing the FTM migration and $S airdrop plans. Bitcoin rose 1.57% and Ether fell 1.87% in the past 24 hours.
Investors are keeping an eye on upcoming earnings reports from Abbott Laboratories, Morgan Stanley, and Lam Research, as the SPX index fell 0.76%. Major chipmakers like Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom dropped sharply. The broader cryptocurrency market performance index, measured by Coindesk Indices, was up 1.21%.
FTM surged after Sonic Labs, founded in 2018 and formerly known as Fantom Foundation, released its litepaper on Oct. 14, detailing the FTM token migration and the governance token $S, which will be distributed through a points-based airdrop and 1:1 exchange for FTM holders.
Sonic Labs, which supports the development of Sonic, a new layer-1 blockchain designed for fast, efficient transactions and secure connectivity to Ethereum, focuses on creating decentralized applications and managing governance for the Sonic ecosystem, which is set to launch later in the year.
FTM, which is used to pay for gas on the Fantom Opera network, has 52% gains in 30 days and currently trades at $0.77. The testnet can handle up to 900 million transactions daily. The "Sonic Boom" bounty program ends on Nov. 4, distributing Sonic Gems that will allocate 37.5% of the $S airdrop.
Grayscale Investments, known for its Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), is reportedly planning to launch a new ETF that will offer exposure to a basket of digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and Avalanche.
The fund, which currently trades on the OTCQX under the ticker GDLC, will be converted into an exchange-traded fund, according to people familiar with the matter. The fund provides investors with diversified exposure to major cryptocurrencies, with a minimum investment of $12,500.
Grayscale, which is a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, has been at the forefront of efforts to bring crypto ETFs to the market. The SEC has approved several Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs this year, but broader digital asset funds, such as those including Solana, have yet to be approved.
After a key legal victory against the SEC, Grayscale has continued its push for broader regulatory acceptance of cryptocurrency assets, with the new ETF offering a crucial avenue for retail investors to access a range of digital assets.
Bitcoin Spot ETF saw total inflows of $82.2 million on Thursday, with $8 million coming from Grayscale's Bitcoin ETF (GBTC) and the remaining $74.2 million from other non-GBTC sources, according to鑫ETF Flows.
Solayer Episode 2 is set to launch soon, offering interactive tasks that contribute to Solana infrastructure development and are essential for the Solayer Airdrop.
Participants must complete at least three tasks from the countdown page within five days. New users can join via an invite link and contribute to the community to earn points, which will determine the airdrop allocation. SolScan users can check their airdrop eligibility here.
Solayer, a decentralized autonomous organization that aims to improve Solana's scalability, launched Episode 1 earlier this year, distributing points for completing tasks like setting up a validator node or creating a new program.
Participants who completed at least three tasks received an NFT, which served as a multiplier for the airdrop. The upcoming Episode 2 will likely follow a similar format, with participants rewarded for contributing to Solana's growth and ecosystem.
