Bitcoin has formed a bearish head and shoulders pattern, according to gold bug Peter Schiff. The "neckline" of the pattern lies just below $57,000, making $54,000 the next downside objective for Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency has plunged over 21% from its record peak of $73,737 and is currently trading at $57,770.

Bitcoin Faces Downward Trend as Market Enters Bear Territory
In a significant development for the cryptocurrency market, leading expert Peter Schiff has predicted a further decline for Bitcoin (BTC), the preeminent digital asset. Schiff's analysis suggests that BTC is likely to descend to the $54,000 level, driven by a bearish pattern formation.
According to Schiff, who is known for his skeptical stance on cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin has exhibited a classic "head and shoulders" pattern, a technical indicator commonly associated with downtrends. The "neckline" of this pattern, representing a critical support level, lies slightly below $57,000.
Data from CoinGecko indicates that Bitcoin is currently trading at $57,770, having previously plummeted to an intraday low of $56,637. Since reaching its record high of $73,737 on March 14, the cryptocurrency has depreciated by more than 21%.
Weakening investor sentiment has played a significant role in the recent downturn. Exchange-traded fund outflows, which have been notably high, have exacerbated the bearish pressure on Bitcoin. Moreover, macro-level factors, including statements from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, have temporarily pushed the price of the cryptocurrency above $59,000, but the overall trend remains negative.
Earlier this month, Schiff asserted that Bitcoin had entered a bear market, defined as a decline of at least 20% from a peak. The recent plunge has substantiated his prediction.
Adding to the market's pessimism, the Crypto Fear & Greed Index, a widely used indicator of investor sentiment, has recently dipped back into the "Fear" zone with a reading of 43. This suggests that the market may be oversold, creating potential opportunities for bargain hunters.
Bitcoin recently endured its worst monthly performance since mid-2023, and market analysts expect another negative month unless a significant market reversal occurs. The cryptocurrency's continued decline has raised concerns among investors and raised questions about the long-term prospects of the digital asset class.
