CryptoBilis, in collaboration with Satoshi Labs and Trezor, will be hosting Bitcoin Pizza Day 2025 on May 30 at MetroTent in Ortigas, Manila.
The event will be celebrating the historic 2010 transaction where programmer Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoins. The event aims to provide a larger venue and a more immersive experience for attendees, Cryptobilis said.
“Last year’s event was an incredible testament to the strength and unity of the Philippine crypto community. We’re excited to build on that success and create an even more immersive and empowering experience in 2025.”
The 2025 celebration builds upon the success of the previous year’s event, which was attended by more than 500 cryptocurrency enthusiasts in the Philippines. The event is a testament to the ingenuity of programmer Laszlo Hanyecz, who in 2010, traded 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas from a local shop. At the time, 10,000 Bitcoins were valued at around $60, while two pizzas would typically cost around $15. Today, 10,000 Bitcoins are estimated to be worth over $250 million.
Hanyecz’s transaction, announced in a post on the Bitcoin Forum, is widely recognized as the first-ever commercial use of Bitcoin. It occurred at a pivotal moment in Bitcoin’s development, shortly after the cryptocurrency was launched by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009.
The event is a celebration of cryptocurrency and its impact on the world. It will be a fun-filled day with food, drinks, games, and prizes. There will also be opportunities to learn more about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with CryptoBilis again for Bitcoin Pizza Day,” said Satoshi Labs and Trezor. “Bitcoin Pizza Day is more than just a party; it’s a reminder of how far Bitcoin has come and the transformative power of decentralized technology. We are happy to once again participate with CryptoBilis to celebrate this important day.”
The event organizers are also keen on highlighting the role of community in the cryptocurrency space.
“Sobrang daming games, sobrang daming prizes! We had so much fun last year, and we are aiming to create an even more memorable experience this year. We want to bring together the community to celebrate, network, and grow.”
“After Bitcoin’s continued success and the success of last year’s event, we are excited to see everyone again at MetroTent!”
