Cryptocurrencies experienced significant volatility on Friday morning amid escalating geopolitical tensions following Israel's strike on Iran. As a result, Bitcoin plummeted below $60,000 for the second time this week, reflecting wider market declines in Asia and potential headwinds for central banks.

Cryptocurrencies Experience Volatile Ride as Geopolitical Tensions Escalate
On Friday morning, the cryptocurrency market underwent significant fluctuations as geopolitical risks persisted following an attack by Israel on Iran. The ensuing turmoil caused Bitcoin to plummet below $60,000 for the second time this week, mirroring the decline in other financial assets.
Asia's Nikkei 225 index plummeted by over 3%, while Hang Seng and KOSPI witnessed drops of over 2%. US equity futures were also in the red, while the price of crude oil resumed its upward trajectory, with Brent crude oil approaching the critical resistance point of $90.
Geopolitical uncertainties have a profound impact on cryptocurrencies due to their potential to drive up energy prices and inflation. This scenario makes it challenging for central banks to reduce interest rates, thereby affecting the broader financial landscape.
Toncoin Defies Market Trend
Toncoin, the cryptocurrency associated with the popular messaging platform Telegram, exhibited resilience this week, defying the negative market sentiment. The cryptocurrency benefited from the growing economic activity within its ecosystem and the strong performance of The Open League. Additionally, the total value locked in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications connected to Toncoin surged to $165 million, and the number of Toncoin holders exceeded 1.15 million.
As of Friday morning, Toncoin's price stood at $6.70, supported by rising demand. The cryptocurrency remained above its 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMA), a positive technical indicator.
Toncoin has also formed a bullish pennant pattern, which typically signifies a positive price continuation. However, downward momentum is suggested by the formation of a bearish divergence pattern in the Relative Strength Index (RSI) and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD).
Internet Computer Faces Downtrend
The Internet Computer (ICP) token has retreated to $12.45 after reaching a peak of $21 on March 27th. It has fallen below its significant support level of $16.28, prompting concerns among investors.
ICP has crossed below its 50-day and 100-day EMA and has formed a bearish flag pattern. The Relative Strength Index and the Percentage Price Oscillator (PPO) have also declined, indicating downward pressure.
Despite these challenges, ICP remains above an ascending trendline that has supported its price since December 2022. A breach of this trendline would indicate a bearish shift and potentially drive the token towards the key support level of $10.
Chainlink Faces Bearish Outlook
LINK, the token associated with the Chainlink oracle network, has experienced a steady decline since reaching $22.86 in March. This retreat has pushed the token below its crucial support level of $16.31, its lowest point since March 20th.
Technical analysis reveals the formation of a head and shoulders pattern, a bearish technical indicator. The 50-day and 100-day EMA are also converging towards a bearish crossover.
Chainlink is also exhibiting a bearish flag pattern, and oscillator indicators are pointing downwards. This suggests a pessimistic outlook for the token, potentially leading to a drop towards the $10 level.
