Crypto Market Dips: Bitcoin Drops Below $60,000

The global crypto market witnessed a moderate decline on Thursday, with the total market cap dropping by 2.99%. Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency, experienced a significant loss of 4.60%, while Ethereum and Solana also faced downtrends. DeFi tokens saw a moderate decline, while Axelar emerged as the top gainer and Helium suffered the most significant losses.

Crypto Market Experiences Slight Downturn; Bitcoin Dips Below $60,000
The global cryptocurrency market witnessed a modest decline on Thursday, with the total market capitalization decreasing by 2.99% to $2.15 trillion. However, the total trading volume surged by 17.83% to $106.34 billion, indicating increased activity among traders.
Bitcoin (BTC), the leading cryptocurrency, dominated the headlines with a 4.60% drop to $57,195.14. This decline pushed the price below the crucial $60,000 support level, signaling a short-term bearish trend. The 24-hour trading volume for BTC reached a staggering $49.50 billion.
Among the altcoins, Axelar (AXL) emerged as the top gainer, soaring by 7.62% to $38.52 million. Conversely, Helium (HNT) endured heavy losses, plummeting by 7.88% to $27.81 million.
The decentralized finance (DeFi) sector also faced a slight downturn, with the total value locked (TVL) dropping by 1.79% to $7.51 billion, according to Coinmarketcap.com.
Experts' Perspectives
Rajagopal Menon, Vice President of WazirX, shared his insights on the market dynamics: "Bitcoin remains firmly in a bearish zone, consolidating below $60,000, indicating a short-term downtrend. Moreover, Solana (SOL) is experiencing selling pressure and could potentially decline towards $116 if it persists."
