Crypto Analyst Warns of Impending Doom for Memecoins

May 20, 2024 at 10:37 pm

Leading analyst DonAlt predicts a bearish trend for memecoins, including PEPE and Dogwifhat. A fake breakout in PEPE signals a potential decline, with key support at $0.0000065. DonAlt believes the broader memecoin market is poised for significant devaluation, potentially losing over 80% of their value, based on historical market patterns.

Crypto Analyst Warns of Impending Doom for Memecoins

Seasoned Crypto Analyst DonAlt Issues Bearish Warning for Memecoins, Predicting Steep Declines

Renowned cryptocurrency analyst DonAlt, known for his accurate forecast of the 2023 crypto breakout, has cast a bearish shadow over the memecoin sector, particularly Pepe and Dogwifhat. In a recent analysis shared on social media platform X, DonAlt warns of impending downturns for these assets, citing technical signals that indicate a false breakout followed by a bearish trend.

DonAlt, who boasts a massive following of 553,800 on X, observed that Pepe recently experienced a fake breakout, surpassing its previous range high of $0.000009959 before encountering a swift correction. In technical analysis, a fake breakout is considered a bearish indicator, signaling that sellers are overpowering the market.

"Fell below the previous highs," DonAlt stated in his analysis. "For now, that looks like a fake breakout. As long as that's not reclaimed, that's a bearish chart. If reclaimed, that'd be quite bullish but only then."

DonAlt's chart analysis reveals that Pepe's next critical support level lies around $0.0000065. At the time of writing, Pepe is trading at $0.0000090, suggesting a potential further decline if it fails to regain its previous highs.

DonAlt's bearish outlook extends to another memecoin, Dogwifhat (WIF). The analyst expressed concern about WIF's price action, observing that it has nearly returned to its range low and requires a rally to regain key price levels. "Almost back to range low. Looks very bad still. Would look better above $2.77 or below $2," DonAlt commented. Currently, WIF trades at $2.68, barely maintaining its range low.

Beyond these specific memecoins, DonAlt anticipates a significant devaluation for the broader memecoin market, drawing parallels to historical market cycles. He predicts that many prominent memecoins could witness an 80% or greater decline in value.

"If I'm right, the popular memes we trade today will trade 80%+ lower. Then you'll have new memes come up that build new communities that run up. And we'll have the same discussions in a couple of years," DonAlt explained.

DonAlt justifies his prediction by referring to recurring patterns in the cryptocurrency market, where memecoins frequently experience parabolic rallies followed by sharp corrections. "Why am I saying that? Because we've gone through this exact scenario a hundred times in crypto history already," DonAlt asserted. "If the meme top isn't in, it will be eventually. And then you'll get a 90% nuke on all of them, even the most 'blue chip' memes (lol) that exist. It repeats every cycle."

DonAlt's bearish prediction serves as a cautionary warning to investors who may be considering investments in memecoins. It underscores the importance of conducting thorough research and understanding the inherent risks associated with highly volatile and speculative assets.
