Crypto Analyst Predicts Bitcoin Bottom Approaching After Recent Decline
May 03, 2024 at 03:55 am
After a week of falling cryptocurrency prices, led by Bitcoin (BTC), analyst Michaël van de Poppe believes the bottom is near. He suggests that Bitcoin may experience a further 5-10% correction before stabilizing, but anticipates a surge in altcoin momentum as the market recovers.

Crypto Analyst Predicts Bitcoin's Bottom Nearing After Price Decline
Amidst a week of price declines in the cryptocurrency market, renowned analyst Michaël van de Poppe has issued an assessment of the current situation, suggesting that the market's nadir is approaching.
Van de Poppe, with a substantial following of over 715,000 on the social media platform X, provided an insightful analysis of Bitcoin's (BTC) recent price movements. He acknowledged that the leading cryptocurrency had faced a significant drop of approximately 7% in the past fortnight, leading to a period of consolidation.
"Bitcoin's recovery will likely be gradual, with a possible further correction of 5-10%," Van de Poppe stated. However, he expressed optimism that the downside potential was largely exhausted. "From this point, altcoins are poised to emerge as the market leaders until Bitcoin surpasses its previous all-time high."
At the time of writing, Bitcoin was valued at $59,290, reflecting a 4% increase in the preceding 24 hours.
Van de Poppe further elaborated on the recent slump in altcoin prices, acknowledging it as a typical occurrence following a prolonged bear market. "Sentiment is low, participation from retail investors is limited, and expectations prevail that markets will continue to decline," he explained. "This is expected after the altcoin market endured an extended bear cycle spanning 2.5 to 3 years."
Regarding Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Van de Poppe expressed a bullish outlook, particularly towards its layer-2 altcoin Optimism (OP). "OP has exhibited remarkable resilience since its recent low and has already appreciated by over 50%," he noted. "We anticipate its continued momentum, with every 20-30% dip presenting an opportune moment for accumulation."
OP's price stood at $2.77 at the time of writing, registering a 9% increase on the day.
Van de Poppe also analyzed Ethereum's market behavior, predicting a possible decline to the $2,500 level before a subsequent rally. "Ethereum could potentially drop to the $2,500 support zone, which represents an attractive entry point," he suggested. "However, I do not foresee a significant market correction as the majority of the downside has already been absorbed."
Ethereum was trading at $2,997 at the time of writing, reflecting a moderate 4% gain since the previous day.
Van de Poppe's analysis provides valuable insights into the current crypto market landscape, offering guidance to investors navigating the ongoing volatility. As the market continues to evolve, the analyst's expertise remains a valuable resource for those seeking to make informed decisions.
