Cronos EVM has just taken a major leap forward in cross-chain interoperability with the addition of Stargate’s ETH and USDC pools.
This new upgrade, enabled by Cronos’s recent integration of LayerZero’s omnichain messaging protocol, allows Cronos users to tap into unified liquidity from across more than 50 blockchains.
Stargate’s infrastructure - built on LayerZero - allows developers and traders to move value quickly and efficiently between networks, with optimal pricing and deep liquidity.
The ETH and USDC pools are now live on Cronos EVM, signaling the beginning of a broader shift toward seamless cross-chain finance. By utilizing Stargate’s underlying liquidity system, these pools form the basis for more sophisticated DeFi applications, facilitating smoother token transfers and better capital efficiency.
“Cronos has just become far more connected,” said Mirko Zhao, Lead at Cronos. “Developers can now build natively on Cronos while instantly accessing liquidity and users from dozens of other chains. This unlocks entirely new DeFi experiences.”
This integration also massively improves the bridging experience for end users. Stargate’s Hydra component - its Bridge-as-a-Service (BaaS) layer - allows even smaller chains to access liquidity by minting Hydra-backed assets that maintain a 1:1 relationship with the native tokens. This model disintegrates traditional silos, creating a seamless environment for developers to innovate on top of a unified liquidity network.
For Cronos dApps, this translates to faster time-to-market for new cross-chain tools, greater stability in asset flows, and an improved foundation for expanding total value locked (TVL) across the ecosystem.
Lamps, Foundation Lead at Stargate, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Cronos into the Stargate family. It is a crucial building block in scaling DeFi and rolling out the unified Web3 future that we envision at Stargate.”
Connecting to major blockchains like Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism positions Cronos as a major hub in the Omnichain movement. As Stargate’s network continues to grow, so too will the opportunities for builders and users within Cronos.
