Core DAO Supports Multi-Asset Collateral for coreBTC with the New ‘stCORE’

Core DAO Supports Multi-Asset Collateral for coreBTC with the New ‘stCORE’

EVM-compatible chain Core DAO, which powers Bitcoin non-custodial staking, announced a new development on Friday. As per the company, it has upgraded its coreBTC token with a major enhancement by allowing lockers to use multiple assets for collateral. Besides the CORE coin, the initial supported asset includes stCORE (a liquid staking coin).

The new feature enables lockers to generate yield with stCORE by using it as collateral, transforming it into a constructive asset. The integration of stCORE reportedly reduces the risk pertaining to collateral liquidation. It also allows lockers to manage more BTC with the same collateral over time.

Earlier, when lockers used the CORE token as collateral, it faced continuous lockup and unproductivity with no yield. Furthermore, the value of the collateral could fluctuate in the previous setting, potentially increasing the risk of collateral loss and the inability to maintain BTC positions. However, the new development brings forth several benefits and features to aid the users.

Multi-Asset Collateral, Yield Generation, Minimized Liquidation Risk Among New Features

Multiple assets can be used as collateral, with stCORE tokens being used alongside the CORE coin as collateral. This new advancement reportedly diversifies the asset base and enhances stability. Lockers can obtain yield on stCORE tokens by using it as collateral, which turns formerly unproductive collateral into a productive asset.

Moreover, the minimized liquidation risk includes the appreciation of stCORE value over time, which decreases the collateral liquidation risk to provide greater financial security. Improved Bitcoin management is also among the new features, allowing lockers to manage more BTC with the same collateral amount.

The addition of new collateral types like stCORE offers greater scalability to coreBTC. With support for more collateral types, the platform becomes more flexible and inclusive, accommodating a broader range of lockers. This upgrade allows lockers to diversify assets, providing greater stability against price fluctuations and reducing liquidation risk. The multi-collateral options contribute to the long-term resilience and scalability of coreBTC, with diversification helping to minimize the risks associated with holding a single collateral type.
