McGregor shared on X (formerly Twitter) on the 9th of May, highlighting the initial vision behind cryptocurrency in empowering individuals and suggesting that an Irish Bitcoin fund could help make more people financially independent.

McGregor's renewed interest in cryptocurrency and economic policies follows his visit to the White House, where President of the United States Donald Trump showed support for him. McGregor was also subject to criticism in Ireland following his sexual assault case and guilty verdict. This approval marks HashKey as Ireland's first VASP to successfully comply with the requirements stipulated by the EU Fifth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD5).
