Coinbase Murrs the Based Agent, a Tool to Create AI Agents That Can Manage Crypto Wallets

Coinbase has unveiled a tool called the 'Based Agent' that enables developers to quickly create and deploy AI agents with crypto wallets.

Coinbase developer Lincoln Murr unveiled the tool at the Chain Reactions conference in San Francisco.

The Based Agent can be set up in less than three minutes, an impressive feat considering the complexity of AI agent programming.

These agents inherit the full on-chain capabilities of Base, Coinbase's Layer-2 network, allowing them to perform tasks such as trading, swapping, and staking.

Murr highlighted Coinbase's vision to democratize AI agent creation, aiming to empower a broad community of developers.

The tool is built using Coinbase's SDK and combines technologies from OpenAI and Replit.

Developers require API keys from Coinbase and OpenAI, along with a tailored Replit template, to get started with the Based Agent.

The agents can be programmed to perform specific functions, such as interacting with smart contracts or managing staking processes.

Importantly, the Based Agent is not limited to Coinbase's Base network but can also be deployed on other blockchain platforms like Ethereum, Polygon, and Arbitrum.

Developers can further customize their agents with an X-bot feature.
