Chainge, a cross-chain "decentralized finance" project, has trapped user funds for months as promises of salvation fail.

Chainge, a cross-chain "decentralized finance" project, has trapped user funds for months as promises of salvation fail.

Chainge, a cross-chain decentralized finance project, has been unable to process user transactions for months as the project’s promises to help users fail to materialize.

The project, which is sort of a bridge and sort of a decentralized exchange, is being run by DJ Qian, who previously founded Multichain.

The project’s Telegram shows many users complaining that their transactions are stuck and unable to process, and Qian has promised that he will inject liquidity to save the project.

Many of these reports relate to the wrapped Kaspa (wKAS) bridge, with the team claiming that problems were due to "bad actors" who "misused our service ... and caused a liquidity shortage."

These problems have perhaps been present since at least early this year and perhaps as early as late last year.

This wKAS token has now substantially depegged, and a partnership with 'kas.fyi' has since been terminated.

TL;DR: @kas_fyi has terminated its partnership with Chainge/Knot.meme (@FinanceChainge) due to ongoing liquidity issues and a continued lack of transparency and communication. What happened?Since January 2025, we’ve received numerous reports from the Kaspa community that the wKAS (wrapped Kaspa) on Chainge is having liquidity issues. This was later confirmed by the Chainge team, who stated that problems are due to “bad actors who misused our service … and caused a liquidity shortage.” A partnership between 'kas.fyi' and Chainge was announced in December 2024, with the aim to bring the Kaspa community closer to Web3. However, due to the ongoing issues with Chainge, and a lack of communication and transparency from the team, 'kas.fyi' has been forced to terminate the partnership. Here's a statement from 'kas.fyi':We are no longer partners with Chainge/Knot.meme. Despite our best efforts to cooperate and resolve the issues, we have reached a point where we can no longer continue the partnership. We are disappointed by the lack of progress and communication in resolving the wKAS liquidity issues, which have caused significant inconvenience to the Kaspa community. We value transparency and open communication, and unfortunately, we have not experienced this level of interaction with the Chainge team. In their recent updates (March 24), they announced that they are aware of the problems with wKAS and are working on a solution, but they dare not give you any ETA, but 100% will solve it and expecting it this week… the latest would be next week from my understanding. But still no solution yet. It's a pity to see a project like Chainge, which started with good intentions, encounter such difficulties. We wish the Chainge team well in overcoming these challenges and look forward to forging new partnerships that align with our values and goals. We will keep the Kaspa community updated on any further developments.

The team provided an update on March 24, warning that they "dare not give you any ETA," but did promise that they "100% will resolve it" and are "expecting it this week... the latest would be next week from my understanding."

However, that solution has yet to be provided; users can still not access all their funds, and it is not clear if or when Chainge will be able to free these funds from the morass they have become trapped in.

Meanwhile, the front-end for this project still seems to enable users to use this bridge, despite the problems.

Protos reached out to Chainge for comment and will update this piece if we hear back.
