Cantor Fitzgerald to Launch Bitcoin Leverage Service for Holders
Jul 29, 2024 at 07:30 pm
Bitcoin is getting deeper and deeper into traditional finance institutions. Cantor Fitzgerald, an asset management firm with billions in assets under management (AUM), announced its entrance into the bitcoin-linked financial services industry.

Billionaire asset management fund Cantor Fitzgerald has announced its plans to launch a service that will provide leverage to Bitcoin holders. This venture, which will operate as a separate entity, is set to commence with $2 billion in capital. The capital will be replenished in tranches of $2 billion to cater to the needs of Bitcoin holders, according to Howard Lutnick, Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald.
Bitcoin’s presence in traditional finance continues to grow, with Cantor Fitzgerald, an asset management firm boasting billions in assets under management (AUM), now entering the realm of crypto-linked financial services. In a press release issued on Saturday, Cantor Fitzgerald announced its launch of a business dedicated to providing leverage to Bitcoin holders.
The firm will kick off this financing venture with $2 billion and aims to expand the operation significantly in increments of $2 billion. Speaking on the significance of this move, Howard Lutnick, Chairman of Cantor Fitzgerald, stated:
“Cantor Fitzgerald arranges and finances vast amounts of securities and commodities and, as strong supporters of bitcoin, will now build an incredible platform to support bitcoin investors’ financing needs.”
For Lutnick, one of the most crucial aspects of this launch is the link it establishes between Bitcoin and legacy finance institutions. Bitcoin holders have traditionally been unable to leverage their Bitcoin with trusted financial counterparties,被迫依赖未能提供最佳保证的平台。 “We are excited to help unlock Bitcoin’s full potential and continue bridging the gap between traditional finance and digital assets,” he emphasized.
Lutnick also mentioned that Bitcoin, like gold, should be able to trade freely around the world, and the firm will do “everything” they can to achieve this goal.
The firm announced that it will partner with select Bitcoin custodians, but did not disclose any names or a timeline for this launch. However, Cantor Fitzgerald is no stranger to the crypto space, as the firm is known to be one of the major entities holding the treasury backing the USDT stablecoin, the largest in the cryptocurrency market.
