BTC Price Is Falling: Is It The End of Bull Run?

Bitcoin Faces Correction Amid Pre-Halving Jitters

The cryptocurrency market has experienced a significant downturn, with Bitcoin (BTC) leading the decline. After briefly trading around the $70,000 mark, BTC has fallen to $65,228.72, marking a 7% decrease from yesterday's price. This drop has had a ripple effect throughout the crypto market, with Ethereum falling below $3,500 and the overall crypto market cap losing 7%.

The correction in Bitcoin's price has been attributed to several factors.

Upcoming Bitcoin Halving

The Bitcoin halving, scheduled to occur in 2024, has created uncertainty and increased selling pressure in the market. During halving, the Bitcoin reward for miners is reduced by half, potentially limiting the supply of new BTC. This event has historically led to price fluctuations in the lead-up to its occurrence.

LMAX Digital, a leading digital asset exchange, has noted that Bitcoin's record high before halving could contribute to its reluctance to extend its rally, preferring to undergo a period of correction before consolidating.

Bitcoin ETF Negative Flow

The launch of Bitcoin Spot ETFs in the second quarter of 2024 has seen a negative flow, with a net ETF outflow of $85.84 million on April 1st. The Grayscale ETF alone has experienced outflows of $302 million. This negative sentiment has added to the downward pressure on Bitcoin's price.

Coinbase Bitcoin Outflow

CryptoQuant market data reveals a substantial outflow from the Coinbase exchange, with a transaction of 16,800 BTC followed by another outflow of 17,000 BTC. While such transactions typically indicate bullish conditions, in this instance, they have contributed to the sell-off and pushed the BTC value lower.

Is the Bull Run Over?

Analysts believe that the current correction is a temporary setback in the broader Bitcoin bull run. Previous halving events have witnessed similar pullbacks before the resumption of upward momentum.

During the first halving in 2012, BTC rose from $12.20 to over $1,000 post-halving. In 2016, Bitcoin climbed from around $650 to $19,188 after halving. And in 2020, BTC soared to its previous all-time high of $69K.

Experts predict that after the upcoming halving, BTC could start with an initial value of $80,000, with the possibility of crossing the $100,000 mark.

Conclusion

The recent decline in Bitcoin's price is part of the historical pattern observed during halving events. While the market is experiencing a correction, analysts remain optimistic about Bitcoin's long-term prospects. As the halving approaches, it remains to be seen how BTC will navigate the current downturn and its impact on the broader crypto market.
