Broncos Give 2025 Reaches Nearly 1200 Donors

A wave of generosity swept across Cal Poly Pomona this week as Broncos came together for the universitys largest annual fundraiser

Broncos Give 2025 Reaches Nearly 1200 Donors

Cal Poly Pomona's annual 36-hour fundraiser, Broncos Give, concluded on April 17 with an outpouring of generosity from the community. Together, nearly 1,200 donors raised more than $453,000 in support of their favorite organizations, clubs, initiatives, sports and scholarships.

As the official numbers come in for Broncos Give 2025, it’s clear that the event continues to inspire and create opportunities across the university. Participants had the opportunity to pick from more than 130 campus causes, representing nearly every corner of the university, including each of the nine colleges, organizations like Rose Float and the Care Center, and student clubs like the Cal Poly Pomona Steel Bridge team.

At the heart of the campaign were the 166 Broncos Give Champions, who reached out to their networks via email, social media and word of mouth, encouraging them to give.

“Every year, our Broncos Give Champions play a major role in drumming up support for the university’s most impactful causes,” said Brooke Fessler Owens, director of leadership for annual giving. “This year’s success is a direct result of their commitment to our Broncos.”

The Cal Poly Pomona Volleyball team achieved several milestones this year, raising nearly $16,000 and completing several challenges. Through 139 donors, the team managed to match more than $2,750 in funds and ultimately collect $11,340 in support of purchasing essential resources for training, travel, equipment and scholarships for student-athletes.

The Student Managed Investment Fund, a polytechnic program dedicated to preparing students for successful financial careers through real-world, hands-on experience in portfolio management, also exceeded expectations, collecting more than $11,340. Boosted by a $5,000 gift matching opportunity donated by the Tomkoria Family, the funds raised will go toward expanding resources, cutting-edge learning opportunities and scholarships for aspiring financial professionals.

Faculty, staff and students also celebrated the event in front of the BSC through the Broncos Give Coin Challenge, where they voted for their favorite cause to win an additional $1,000 dollars, which was ultimately awarded to The Poly Pantry.

“The number of students that turned out makes me feel good. It shows people really care and the funds that we raise matter,” said Maya Krug, a regenerative studies major who represented the Poly Pantry at the Coin Challenge. “It’s going to help us buy more fruits and vegetables for students and maybe even expand what we offer now so that we can have healthier options. The more money we have, the more students we serve.”
