Brock Purdy's O-linemen are in for a treat at Christmas if last year is anything to go by.

Brock Purdy's O-linemen are in for a treat at Christmas if last year is anything to go by.
As has become tradition around the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback gifted his teammates some incredible gifts as a small token of appreciation for all the hard work they do in making sure he doesn't get sacked.
Purdy surprised his teammates with a remarkable prize -- 10 brand-new Toyota trucks.
The Niners signal caller gave five Toyota Tundras and five Toyota Sequoias to his O-line, including Aaron Banks, Jaylon Moore, Nick Zakelj, Jake Brendel, Spencer Burford, and Colton McKivitz.
"You guys can check 'em out, but these are yours," he says in a video shared to social media.
"Merry Christmas," the quarterback continued. "Merry Christmas guys. 'Preciate you guys. Thanks for all y'all do."
The sweet rides were particularly generous given Brock's salary for the 2024 season is $934,252, while the five starting offensive linemen earned $37,651,852 between them.
However, Purdy may have got a good deal with Toyota, as he signed an endorsement deal with the car manufacturer before the 2023 season and has appeared in numerous commercials with the company.
Purdy was still on his rookie NFL contract at the time after being selected dead last in the 2022 NFL Draft, earning himself the moniker 'Mr. Irrelevant.'
The man who has led the 49ers to two NFC championships and one Super Bowl appearance has just landed a handsome five-year, $265 million deal.
That is $53 million per year -- around 55 times what he was on before.
Arguyably more eye-catching is that Purdy secured a veto normally reserved for only the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, including Patrick Mahomes.
"As part of his five-year, $265-million extension, 49ers QB Brock Purdyreceived a full no-trade clause for the duration of the deal," NFL Network's Mike Garafolohad the update on Thursday night. "Purdy gets financial security and control over his future in a deal that will be finalized and official soon."
Purdy is now one of the league's best paid players.
Dak Prescott was signed by the Dallas Cowboys to a four-year, $240 million contract in 2024 and leads in average annual value at $60 million.
Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence, the Bengals and Jaguars' field generals, got identical five-year deals at $275 million, for average annual values of $55 million.
When the festive season rolls around, Purdy's O-line might be wanting something a bit flashier than a Toyota.
But for now, there is work to be done.
NFL's Greatest......
Ranking the top 10......
Quarterbacks of all-time - Can anyone better Tom Brady?
Wide receivers of all-time - Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?
Running backs of all-time - Stacking Jim Brown, Barrie Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmett Smith and more
Tight ends of all-time - How does Travis Kelce compare?
The 2024 season went terribly for the Niners, who finished with a 6-11 record to miss the playoffs just a year out from losing to Mahomes in the Super Bowl.
Injuries to key offensive weapons played a significant role and if superstar running back Christian McCaffrey is fully fit in 2025, it will make a huge difference.
But Purdy has lost Deebo Samuel in a trade to the Washington Commanders and San Francisco went defense-heavy in the NFL Draft.
Their quarterback no longer has the excuse of being a bargain coming off the back of his worst statistical season as a pro.
He posted career lows in completion percentage (65.9) and passer rating (96.1)
The knives will be sharpened and ready to come out at the slightest whiff of underperformance.
“I like quarterbacks who initiate advantage, not benefit mostly from it,” Colin Cowherd said on a recent episode of The Herd. “And I’m not saying he’s a smart kid that doesn’t move well.
"I think Brock tends to be closer in talent to a Baker Mayfield 35 million a year, than Josh Allen 55 million a year.
“And I’m not saying Brock is the only quarterback I think is overpaid. It does appear that Trevor Lawrence is overpaid.”
Purdy is being paid as if he is capable of putting a team on his back and getting the job done.
'Mr Irrelevant' has already shown flashes of elite play, now is the time
