BitGo, the largest digital asset custodian, is now Live with Flare (FLR) and its canary network Songbird (SGB)
Jun 13, 2025 at 01:56 am
Flare, an EVM-compatible network and a top 100 asset by market cap, introduces a suite of innovations, including the Flare Time Series Oracle, FAssets, and the Flare Data Connector—all designed to bridge on-chain systems with off-chain data, assets, and compute.
Digital asset custodian BitGo has added support for Flare (FLR) and its canary network Songbird (SGB), expanding its offerings to institutional clients with both qualified custody and self-custody solutions.
This integration extends BitGo’s reputation as the most comprehensive provider of secure digital asset infrastructure and comes as Flare emerges as a powerful Layer 1 blockchain.
Hot and cold wallets will be available for both SGB and FLR, providing clients with the flexibility they need to manage their digital assets effectively.
Specifically, this partnership will provide institutions with trusted access to:
• Flare’s cutting-edge technologies, such as the Flare Time Series Oracle, FAssets, and the Flare Data Connector, are designed to bridge on-chain systems with off-chain data, assets, and compute.
• Future updates such as verifiable off-chain computers are designed to open the door to decentralized AI and more sophisticated DeFi applications.
• Songbird carries the same capabilities with additional options that allow developers to test new features in a live economic setting. It is an important testing ground during the innovations that will be incorporated in Flare mainnet.
SGB is already open for both self-custody and qualified custody, enabling institutions to experiment and use early Flare features without risking compliance or security.
On the agenda for later this year are further integration with Flare’s token standards, Wrapped Flare (WFLR) delegation, and native staking.
“We are excited to partner with BitGo to provide institutions with the opportunity to engage with Flare’s ecosystem in a seamless and secure manner,” said Hugo Philion, CEO of Flare.
“BitGo’s strength in meeting the highest regulatory standards and their secure infrastructure align perfectly with Flare’s vision. As demand for data-rich, decentralized systems increases, this partnership will provide institutions with a trusted on-ramp into the rapidly evolving Flare ecosystem.”
This move underscores BitGo's commitment to expanding its offerings and providing institutions with access to the latest and most promising blockchain technologies.
