Bitcoin Surges Above $70K as Halving Event Draws Near

Apr 08, 2024 at 06:30 pm

On April 7th and 8th, Bitcoin briefly surpassed its $70,000 resistance, reaching a high of $70,500. Despite potential volatility, analysts predict unlikely drops below $50,000. Bitcoin hovers within a symmetrical triangle pattern, with a buy signal from the 20-day EMA and a neutral RSI. The upcoming halving event remains a key trigger, while altcoins like MKR, RNDR, and FIL show significant growth potential.

Bitcoin Surges Past $70,000 as Halving Nears

On April 7th and 8th, Bitcoin experienced a surge in value, briefly rising above $70,000 on Sunday and consolidating above that threshold on Monday. As of this writing, Bitcoin continues to hover around $70,500.

In the past seven days alone, Bitcoin has rallied by approximately 1.55%, rising significantly from its weekly low of $64,700. With the highly anticipated Bitcoin halving event occurring in just 11 days, market analysts anticipate further price gains.

Dylan LeClair, a senior analyst at UTXO Management, has expressed confidence that even in the face of potential post-halving volatility, it is unlikely that Bitcoin will retreat to levels below $50,000. However, he cautioned that the cryptocurrency market remains unpredictable.

Over the past few days, Bitcoin's price action has been confined within a symmetrical triangle pattern, indicating indecision in the market regarding its next move. The 20-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) currently stands at $68,289, signaling a buy signal, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains in neutral territory (58), giving bulls a slight advantage for the time being.

If Bitcoin manages to break through the immediate resistance level of $71,416, analysts anticipate a potential rally to around $73,662 within the next month. The upcoming halving event is widely expected to be the catalyst for either an upward or downward price movement.

While Bitcoin maintains its dominance in the overall crypto market, several altcoins have significantly outpaced BTC in terms of growth percentages.

MakerDAO's MKR token, for example, has recorded a surge of 74.66% over the past month. As of April 8th, 2024, MKR trades around $3,665. The 20-day EMA indicates a buy signal at $3,496.15. If the price rebounds from support, it could signal continued bullish sentiment, with the MKR/USD pair potentially reaching $4,065 within the next month.

Other altcoins with similar growth potential include Render (RNDR) and Filecoin (FIL), as investors increasingly embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) crypto projects.
