Bitcoin's Surge Falters at $67K Resistance, Faces Pullback

Apr 23, 2024 at 04:32 pm

Bitcoin's price surge continued within 24 hours, reaching above $67,000 before facing resistance and declining. Altcoins generally experienced slight losses, except for XRP which gained 3%. Following a recent bull run, bitcoin has encountered resistance at $67,000, leading to a decline. Market capitalization remains steady at $1.3 trillion, while TON has faced significant losses despite Tether's expansion to its blockchain.

Bitcoin's Surge Falters at $67K Resistance, Faces Pullback

Bitcoin's Surge Stalls Amidst Resistance at $67,000

In the turbulent cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin has continued its ascent within the past 24 hours, briefly surpassing the $67,000 mark before facing resistance and a subsequent pullback. The majority of alternative cryptocurrencies (altcoins) have also experienced a modest decline, with the notable exception of XRP, which has recorded a 3% surge.

BTC's Rally Halted

The cryptocurrency landscape witnessed a bearish trend last week, with BTC subjected to price drops below $60,000 on several occasions. The most recent decline occurred on Friday amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

However, BTC swiftly recovered nearly all its losses in the ensuing hours, buoyed by Iran's announcement that there would be no impending retaliation. BTC's price regained significant value, reaching approximately $65,000 on the eve of April 20, when the fourth halving occurred.

Since then, Bitcoin has embarked on a gradual upward trajectory, accumulating gains of $500 to $1,000 daily. This steady climb culminated in a multi-week high of $67,200 earlier today. However, this ascent was met with renewed selling pressure, halting any further gains.

BTC's price has subsequently plummeted by over $1,000, battling to remain above $66,000. Despite this setback, BTC's market capitalization remains a colossal $1.3 trillion, while its dominance over altcoins stands at 51% according to CoinGecko.

TON's Steep Decline

CryptoPotato previously reported on Tether's expansion of two of its stablecoins to the TON blockchain. Although this development initially had a positive impact on Toncoin's price, the asset has since experienced a significant downward spiral. The past 24 hours alone have witnessed a 10% decline, leaving TON hovering around $5.5.

Most large-cap altcoins have also incurred modest losses, with the exception of XRP. Ripple's native token has gained 3% following recent favorable developments in its ongoing lawsuit with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The total cryptocurrency market capitalization has remained largely unchanged since yesterday, hovering just above $2.55 trillion on CoinGecko.

Conclusion

Bitcoin's surge has encountered resistance at $67,000, leading to a pullback. Altcoins, with the exception of XRP, have also experienced moderate declines. The cryptocurrency market capitalization remains stable, but the long-term trend remains uncertain amidst ongoing market volatility.
