Bitcoin Pulls Back, Hits Resistance at $63.5K

May 14, 2024 at 02:02 pm

Bitcoin's price has stabilized above $60,000 after a decline, facing resistance near $63,500. The upward trend remains intact as long as $60,000 support holds, with the potential for a rally to $65,000 if $63,500 resistance is breached. Conversely, a drop below $61,800 could lead to further losses, potentially retesting the $60,000 range support. Technical indicators suggest a consolidation phase, with the MACD losing momentum while the RSI hovers near neutrality.

Bitcoin Pulls Back, Hits Resistance at $63.5K

Bitcoin Price Retreats Amidst Range-Bound Trading, Facing Resistance at $63,500

Bitcoin's recent price rally has faltered, with the cryptocurrency facing resistance near $63,500 and consolidating its gains. After hovering above the $60,000 support, BTC's bullish momentum seems to be waning.

Technical analysis indicates that Bitcoin is currently trading within a range between $60,000 and $63,500. The 100 hourly Simple Moving Average (SMA) provides support at $61,800, while the immediate resistance lies near $62,800. A crucial resistance zone lies at $63,500.

On the hourly chart of BTC/USD, the price has broken above a major bearish trend line with resistance at $61,400. However, Bitcoin's inability to sustain its upward trajectory suggests that further consolidation or even a decline could be imminent.

If Bitcoin manages to surpass the $63,500 resistance level, it could trigger a rally towards $65,000. Conversely, a failure to climb above $63,200 could lead to another decline, with support levels at $62,200, $61,800 (50% Fib retracement level), and $61,200.

Technical indicators are providing mixed signals. The Hourly Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is losing momentum in the bullish zone, while the Hourly Relative Strength Index (RSI) is hovering near the 50 level, indicating a neutral market sentiment.

The overall market sentiment remains uncertain, with Bitcoin's price action likely to be influenced by factors such as institutional adoption, regulatory developments, and the broader macroeconomic environment. Investors should exercise caution and carefully manage their risk exposure in this volatile market.

Key Support Levels:

  • $61,200
