Bitcoin Primed for Surge to $70,000, Analysts Predict
May 08, 2024 at 05:02 pm
Since surpassing $60,000 on May 3rd, Bitcoin has remained within a tight trading range. Despite this, respected analyst "crypto_birb" predicts that Bitcoin will likely reclaim the $70,000 level this month. Citing bullish indicators such as rising moving averages and an end-of-May target, the analyst suggests Bitcoin will continue its upward trajectory.

Bitcoin Poised for a Surge Towards $70,000, Analysts Predict
In the wake of its recent resurgence above the psychological threshold of $60,000, Bitcoin has exhibited a remarkable resilience within a tight trading range. However, prominent analysts foresee a potential surge towards the $70,000 mark in the ongoing month, a level that the asset has not graced since April 12.
Bullish Sentiment Prevails
Adrian Zduńczyk, known in the cryptosphere as "crypto_birb," shared his analysis with his extensive following of over 650,000 on May 8, outlining the possibility of Bitcoin reaching $70,000 this month. His optimism stems from the prevailing bull market conditions, characterized by the continuous upward trajectory of both the 200-week and 50-week moving averages.
Adding credence to this bullish outlook, the 200-day moving average has recently ascended to an all-time high of over $50,000. Bitcoin pioneer Anthony Pompliano has taken notice of this significant milestone, emphasizing the unwavering strength of the long-term thesis.
Technicals and Market Indicators Align
Zduńczyk further highlights the technical indicator's transformation of this level into a support zone. The Fear and Greed Index indicates that market sentiment remains within the "greed" range, and mining costs have stabilized.
Moreover, historical data reveals an average gain of approximately 15% in May during previous market cycles. The month commenced at $60,600, suggesting a potential end-of-month target of around $70,000, Zduńczyk concludes.
Consolidation Pattern and Long-Term Prospects
Fellow analyst and trader "Crypto Caesar" discerns a possible formation of a large cup and handle pattern on the weekly Bitcoin chart. Such a pattern, if confirmed, could portend a significant upward rally and potentially a shorter market cycle, particularly if Bitcoin surpasses its all-time highs this summer.
Earlier this week, Bitfinex, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, reported promising signs from on-chain indicators, suggesting a potential decline in selling pressure from short-term holders. Additionally, former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes predicts that the market will consolidate between $60,000 and $70,000 until August, marking the passing of the local bottom when BTC reached $56,800.
Crypto Market Overview
While Bitcoin rallies towards higher ground, broader cryptocurrency markets have experienced a slight dip, with a 1.4% decline in total market capitalization, which now stands at $2.42 trillion. Bitcoin itself has shed a comparable proportion, trading at $62,629 at the time of writing, maintaining a sideways trajectory.
Ethereum has weakened further, dipping below $3,000, a critical support level. Altcoins have predominantly followed suit, with notable losses recorded by Solana (SOL), Dogecoin (DOGE), and Avalanche (AVAX).
Despite the temporary retracement, analysts remain confident in the long-term prospects of Bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency market, anticipating further upward momentum and potential price discovery in the months ahead.
