Bitcoin Market May Be Headed for a Significant Decline, Analyst Warns
Dec 27, 2024 at 08:28 pm
A Bitcoin analyst has flagged potential trouble for the cryptocurrency market, suggesting a significant decline could be on the horizon.

A Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) analyst is warning that the cryptocurrency may be setting up for a large drop.
What Happened: A Bitcoin analyst at The ForexX Mindset highlighted that the cryptocurrency is facing difficulties in surpassing a key resistance level.
Currently, Bitcoin has dropped 15% from its recent high of around $108,365, as per Bitstamp data.
The price drop comes as the stablecoin Tether’s dominance in the crypto market is showing signs of returning to strength.
This trend may be indicating a ‘huge dump,’ considering the inverse relationship between Bitcoin prices and the USDT Dominance Index.
The USDT Dominance Index, which showcases Tether’s share in the total cryptocurrency market, is recovering after finding support levels last seen in March.
Historically, an increase in this index has coincided with Bitcoin nearing local tops, suggesting a shift of capital into Tether, possibly in anticipation of market volatility.
What It Means: According to The ForexX Mindset, this may lead to a deceptive pump in Bitcoin, luring traders into a trap before a large price drop.
The analyst is advising caution, warning that a sudden surge may lead investors to believe in a market rally, only for a sharp subsequent drop to wipe out early investors.
Bitcoin’s recent modest recovery from its December low of $92,120 saw it rise to $96,740 by the end of December.
However, this uptick may be setting up for an ‘institutional ambush,’ where larger players, such as dark pools and whales, manipulate prices upwards to garner retail interest before selling off at peaks.
Technical indicators are also reinforcing the bearish outlook.
Bitcoin’s failure to breach the 1.618 Fibonacci extension level and the entry of the weekly relative strength index into overbought territory are classic signs of waning bullish momentum.
Currently trading at around $96,000, Bitcoin may be eyeing the 20-week exponential moving average at $81,500 if the correction continues.
Further declines could test the 50-week EMA at around $67,700.
On the other hand, if Bitcoin manages to stabilize above the 1.618 Fibonacci line as support, some analysts speculate it could reach $150,000 by mid-2025.
However, this prospect comes amidst broader warnings of potential risks and volatility in the market.
Readers are advised to exercise due diligence and research before making investment decisions.
