Bitcoin Eyes Surge as Correction from $65.5K Resistance Eases

May 09, 2024 at 06:47 pm

Bitcoin price is experiencing a correction after failing to break past the $65,500 resistance level. The price is currently moving within a bullish flag pattern, and a close above the $68,000 resistance and the 50-day simple moving average could trigger a fresh surge. However, if the $56,000 support is breached, the price might drop further, with potential support levels at $58,000, $57,200, and $56,000.

Bitcoin Primed for a Potential Surge as Correction from $65,500 Resistance Subsides

New Delhi, India (CoinChapter.com) – Bitcoin's (BTC) price action has been characterized by a corrective pullback following its encounter with the formidable $65,500 resistance barrier. This retreat has witnessed BTC/USD trending downwards, prompting speculation of a possible test of the $56,000 support level before a resurgence of bullish momentum.

Technical analysis of Bitcoin's daily chart reveals a potential bullish flag pattern, with resistance established at $68,000. The recent recovery from the channel support zone has propelled BTC's price above the $60,000 and $62,000 resistance levels.

However, the bears asserted their presence near the $65,500 resistance and the 50-day simple moving average (SMA), resulting in a clear rejection pattern that has sent BTC's price spiraling downward once more.

Should the bears maintain their dominance, the price could plunge towards the $60,000 support zone, with the first significant support level situated near $58,000. Further down the support ladder, $57,200 is emerging as a potential buffer, while the main uptrend support hovers around $56,000, coinciding with the channel's lower trend line and the 50% Fibonacci retracement level of the upward surge from $38,572 to $73,588.

Failure to defend the $56,000 support level could trigger a more substantial decline, potentially leading to a plunge towards the $46,850 support or the 76.4% Fibonacci retracement level.

Contrarily, Bitcoin's price may stabilize above $56,000, paving the way for a fresh upswing. Immediate resistance looms at $64,200, with the first major hurdle positioned at $65,500, where the 50-day SMA resides.

The primary resistance lies at $68,000. To extend its upward trajectory and gather bullish steam, BTC's price must decisively break above both the $68,000 resistance and the 50-day SMA. The next crucial resistance level awaits at $70,000, beyond which the price could escalate further. A daily close surpassing the $70,000 resistance zone could unlock a path towards the $80,000 region.

Overall, Bitcoin's price signaling suggests a higher likelihood of further declines below the $60,000 level. However, BTC/USD remains in a broader uptrend trajectory, contingent upon a daily and weekly close above the $56,000 level.
