Bitcoin Eyes $70K Comeback in May, Analysts Predict
May 08, 2024 at 03:28 pm
Amidst tight price swings, Bitcoin is projected to reach $70,000 this month, claims analyst Adrian Zduńczyk. The analyst cites bullish market trends, rising moving averages, and favorable technical indicators as support for the prediction. Zduńczyk also notes sustained market sentiment in the "greed" phase and historical average gains in May. Other analysts like "Crypto Caesar" suggest a potential "cup and handle" pattern formation, indicating a breakout and rally.

Bitcoin Bullish Outlook: $70,000 Recovery Possible in May
Bitcoin has been trading within a narrow range since breaking above $60,000 on May 3. However, analysts remain optimistic about its potential for further upward movement this month.
Analyst Predicts $70,000 Target
Adrian Zduńczyk, a prominent analyst with a significant Twitter following, believes Bitcoin could regain the $70,000 level before the end of May. He cites several technical indicators, including the rising 200-week and 50-week moving averages, as evidence of a bullish trend.
Additionally, the 200-day moving average reached an all-time high this week, exceeding $50,000. Anthony Pompliano, a Bitcoin advocate, highlighted this milestone, emphasizing that the long-term fundamentals remain strong.
Technical Support and Market Sentiment
Zduńczyk further notes that $50,000 is now a support level for Bitcoin, according to the 200-day moving average. He also points out that market sentiment remains in the "greed" phase, as indicated by the Fear and Greed Index. Additionally, mining costs have stabilized, which is seen as a positive indicator for Bitcoin's value.
Based on historical data and the current market conditions, Zduńczyk estimates an end-of-month target of around $70,000 for Bitcoin. This implies an average gain of 15% from its current price of $60,600.
Cup and Handle Pattern and On-Chain Indicators
Another analyst, "Crypto Caesar," observes a potential cup and handle pattern forming on Bitcoin's weekly chart. He suggests that a breakout above previous highs this summer could lead to a significant rally and a shorter market cycle.
On-chain indicators from the cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex indicate a possible decline in selling pressure from short-term holders. Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes believes that the recent dip to $56,800 marked the local bottom and that the market will remain rangebound between $60,000 and $70,000 until August.
Crypto Market Outlook
The broader cryptocurrency market experienced a slight dip on Wednesday in Asia, with a 1.4% loss in total market capitalization to $2.42 trillion. Bitcoin declined by a similar percentage to $62,629, while Ethereum fell below $3,000. Most altcoins were in the red, with notable losses for Solana, Dogecoin, and Avalanche.
