Bitcoin and Ether Have Experienced Double-Digit Gains Over the Past Seven Days of Trading
Jul 20, 2024 at 04:20 pm
Despite a day of decline, Bitcoin and Ether have posted significant gains over the past seven days. Currently, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) is flirting with 61

Both Bitcoin and Ether recorded a gain of over 10% in the past seven days of trading, despite a day of decline on Monday.
Currently, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) is hovering around 61,000 dollars, indicating a gain of about 14% over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Ether (ETH) is trading slightly above 3,000 dollars, with a gain of around 11% over the same period.
Other major cryptos, such as Solana (SOL) and XRP, also experienced significant gains, with SOL increasing by 22% and XRP gaining about 23% over the past seven days. These gains come amid interesting market challenges, including recent Bitcoin liquidations by Germany that led to a drop in prices.
The liquidations pushed BTC from 65,000 dollars to 55,800 dollars at the beginning of July. Additionally, the repayments of creditors by the defunct crypto exchange Mt. Gox using Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash might have increased the market supply.
However, technical indicators, such as Bollinger bands, suggest potential price movements in the coming period. According to Julien Bittel, head of macroeconomic research at Global Macro Investor, only two other periods in history saw Bollinger bands this tight: April 2016 and July 2023.
During these periods, BTC prices went on to experience substantial increases over the following months. Bittel predicts that, if the trend continues, BTC prices could reach between 140,000 dollars and 190,000 dollars.
The approval and launch of Bitcoin spot ETFs earlier this year might also be impacting the current market dynamics. As new investors access BTC directly through these funds, they could be using current corrections as an opportunity to increase their exposure in the market.
According to a Gemini report, these investors “could be newcomers to the market who previously did not have direct access to spot Bitcoin.” Fournier adds that BTC might continue to oscillate within a range of 62,500 dollars to 67,000 dollars until the launch of Ether ETFs.
This volatility could present profit opportunities in the coming weeks, he indicates. Despite recent market volatility, experts remain optimistic about the long-term prospects for Bitcoin and Ether. Investors should, therefore, stay up-to-date and vigilant to capitalize on these market developments.
Fournier concludes by highlighting the importance of understanding technical indicators and market trends to identify potential investment opportunities and navigate the ever-changing crypto landscape.
