Bitcoin ETFs Set to Launch Crypto Into Gold's Dust, Analyst Predicts

Apr 16, 2024 at 10:38 am

Renowned cryptocurrency analyst Willy Woo predicts Bitcoin's price could surpass gold's market cap following the introduction of Bitcoin ETFs. Based on conservative estimates and the assumption of asset managers allocating 2% of their funds to Bitcoin, Woo's calculations suggest Bitcoin's price could reach $91k in a bear market and $650k in a bull market. With Bitcoin's current market cap at $1.2 trillion and gold's at $16.1 trillion, Woo believes Bitcoin will exceed gold's capitalisation as asset managers deploy their capital and expects increased volatility around Bitcoin's upcoming halving event.

Bitcoin ETFs Set to Launch Crypto Into Gold's Dust, Analyst Predicts

Bitcoin ETFs Poised to Propel Crypto to Surpass Gold, Predicts Analyst Willy Woo

In a momentous forecast, renowned cryptocurrency analyst Willy Woo has boldly predicted that the advent of Bitcoin ETFs could propel the virtual asset's value beyond that of gold, potentially unleashing a surge that will redefine the financial landscape.

Woo's audacious projections, outlined in a recent tweet, envision Bitcoin (BTC/USD) soaring to breathtaking heights once ETF investors fully embrace the digital currency. In a scenario that mimics gold's historical bull run following ETF approval, Woo suggests a surge to $91,000 as a conservative estimate for Bitcoin during a bear market bottom and a staggering $650,000 at the pinnacle of a bull market.

Woo's compelling analysis hinges on the assumption that asset managers, who collectively oversee a mind-boggling $100 trillion, will allocate a mere 2% of their colossal funds to Bitcoin, resulting in a colossal $2 trillion investment. This influx of capital, coupled with Bitcoin's current investment holdings of $561,159,959, forms the foundation of Woo's bullish projections, calculated using the MVRV ratio to determine the market capitalization relative to invested funds.

The recent regulatory green light from the SEC for numerous Bitcoin ETF applications, including those from Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB), Hashdex Bitcoin ETF (DEFI), Valkyrie Bitcoin Fund (BRRR), and ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB), has set the stage for this transformative shift.

Gold, with its estimated market capitalization hovering around $16.1 trillion, currently reigns supreme in the precious metals realm. However, Woo confidently asserts that Bitcoin will inevitably surpass this formidable benchmark as asset manager capital flows into the digital asset.

"Bitcoin will certainly exceed Gold capitalization by the time asset manager capital has deployed," Woo proclaimed in his tweet. "Gold went on a 12-year bull run when its ETF was approved, now it's Bitcoin's turn."

Bitcoin's current market capitalization, standing at a substantial $1.2 trillion, pales in comparison to the dizzying heights predicted by Woo. A surge to $650,000 per coin would propel the apex cryptocurrency's market cap to an astonishing $12.8 trillion, effectively eclipsing gold's dominance.

Woo's unwavering optimism extends beyond these headline-grabbing projections. In a recent forecast, he envisioned Bitcoin's price potentially hitting the $71,000 to $75,000 range due to a wave of short liquidations, despite a crucial support level at $58,900.

His bullish stance draws support from the Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) metric, which hints at upward pressure. Woo anticipates heightened volatility surrounding the upcoming Bitcoin halving event, potentially leading to market turbulence in April. Nonetheless, he remains steadfast in his belief that a bullish scenario will prevail, with short liquidations acting as a catalyst for price appreciation.

The surge in trading volumes for Bitcoin ETFs has been nothing short of remarkable, with a staggering $111 billion traded in March alone, as reported by Benzinga. However, the past week has witnessed an 8% dip in Bitcoin prices, resulting in $83 million in net outflows from spot Bitcoin ETFs, as highlighted in a recent Benzinga article.

Despite these temporary setbacks, the long-term prospects for Bitcoin remain bright, fuelled by the transformative power of ETFs and the unwavering conviction of analysts like Willy Woo. As asset managers embrace the digital asset, Bitcoin seems poised to cement its status as a formidable financial force, ready to challenge the reign of gold and reshape the investment landscape forever.
