Bitcoin ETFs Mark Sixth Consecutive Day of Net Inflows, Ether ETFs Continue Negative Streak
Aug 24, 2024 at 12:12 am
Bitcoin ETFs marked their sixth consecutive day of net flows, adding $65 million on Aug. 22. In contrast, Ether ETFs recorded net outflows of $0.8 million

Bitcoin ETFs saw continued inflows for the sixth consecutive day on Aug. 22, adding $65 million, while Ether ETFs recorded net outflows of $0.8 million, continuing their negative streak for the same period.
According to data from Spotonchain, the twelve BTC ETFs reported $64.91 million in net flows, a significant jump from the $39.42 million recorded on Aug. 21.
The largest contribution to the Bitcoin ETFs’ inflows came from BlackRock’s IBIT, which, after a previously stagnant day, noted a $75.5 million inflow, bringing its total inflows to date to $20.6 billion. Moreover, Fidelity’s FBTC and ARK 21Shares’ ARKB recorded inflows of over $9 million and almost $8 million, respectively.
Other players in the Bitcoin ETF space, such as WisdomTree’s BTCW and VanEck’s HODL, contributed smaller inflows of $4.8 million and $3.4 million, respectively, following nine days of inactivity. However, the positive inflows were partially offset by Grayscale’s GBTC, which recorded outflows of $28.4 million, pushing its cumulative outflows to $19.69 billion since launch.
Bitwise’s BITB also experienced significant outflows, reporting $11.5 million. Despite the influx of funds into Bitcoin ETFs, the overall trading volume declined, dropping from $1.42 billion on Aug. 21 to $899.6 million on Aug. 22.
Since their inception, Bitcoin ETFs have recorded a cumulative net inflow of $17.62 billion. BTC’s price is down 0.9% over the past day, trading at $60,792 per current Coingecko data. However, experts predict a short-term price recovery for the leading cryptocurrency.
Meanwhile, spot Ether ETFs extended their outflow trend for the sixth consecutive day on Aug. 22, losing $874,610. Grayscale’s ETHE experienced the largest outflows, with $19.8 million withdrawn from the fund.
This brings the total amount withdrawn from the fund since its inception in July 2024 to $2.52 billion. The other Ether ETFs managed to limit the damage, with Fidelity’s FETH and Grayscale’s ETH seeing modest inflows of $14.3 million and $3.7 million, respectively.
VanEck’s ETHV also recorded an inflow of $1 million, while the remaining five Ether ETFs reported no activity. Ether ETF trading volume also experienced a sharp drop compared to the previous day, with only $93.8 million recorded on Aug. 22.
Since their inception, spot Ether ETFs now have cumulative outflows of $458.95 million. In contrast to the launch hype, Ether ETFs continue to struggle with outflows, raising questions about their short-term prospects.
