Bitcoin Bulls Back in Command After Early Week Sell-Off
Apr 04, 2024 at 08:01 pm
Bitcoin bulls have regained control after an early-week dip to $64,500, with BTC/USD adding green candlesticks over the past two days to trade around $66,310. The recovery is supported by inflows into Bitcoin ETFs, which have totaled over $12 billion year-to-date. Ethereum has also stabilized, retracing some losses, while Dogecoin, Cardano, and Avalanche have recorded double-digit weekly declines.

Bitcoin Bulls Regain Control After Early Week Dip
Following a 6% decline earlier this week that drove the price of Bitcoin (BTC) down to $64,500, bullish sentiment has returned to the cryptocurrency market.
The dip aligned with a strengthening US dollar, as hotter-than-anticipated US jobs data prompted swap markets to anticipate fewer interest rate reductions for the year.
However, Bitcoin has since stabilized, with the BTC/USD pair posting green candlesticks over the past two days. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading around $66,310.
Inflows into Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have contributed to market stability. According to Farside data, $133 million entered the ETF market yesterday, bringing year-to-date net cash inflows to over $12 billion.
Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency, has followed a similar trajectory by recovering some of its early-week losses. The ETH/USD pair remains 7% lower week-over-week and is currently trading at $3,341.
In the broader cryptocurrency market, Dogecoin (DOGE), Cardano (ADA), and Avalanche (AVAX) have all recorded double-digit losses over the past seven days. Conversely, BNB is among the few blue-chip cryptocurrencies to post weekly gains, albeit less than one percent.
The global cryptocurrency market capitalization currently stands at $2.51 trillion, with Bitcoin's dominance remaining steady at 52%.
Analysts' Perspective
Analysts attribute the recent market volatility to a combination of factors, including profit-taking after Bitcoin's all-time highs, geopolitical uncertainty, and regulatory concerns. However, they remain optimistic about the long-term prospects for digital assets.
"While we may see further short-term fluctuations, the underlying fundamentals supporting Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies remain strong," said Alex Kuptsikevich, market analyst at FxPro. "The growing adoption of blockchain technology, increasing institutional participation, and the search for alternative investments amid inflation are all contributing to positive sentiment."
"The resilience of the market in the face of recent headwinds suggests that the crypto industry has matured and is becoming more resilient to external factors," added Simon Peters, market analyst at eToro.
