Bitcoin (BTC) Price Analysis: BTC/USD Inches Lower, What's Next?
Aug 16, 2024 at 04:19 pm
BTC/USD is edging lower at press time. While the horizontal consolidation is clear, buyers must break higher to confirm the bull bar of August 8.

Bitcoin dropped on Wednesday, sliding into the lower limit of a support zone after a brief recovery attempt failed to gather enough momentum.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency slid 1.2% to $58,124 by 23:05 ET (03:05 GMT). BTC/USD dropped as much as 1.8% during the session.
Bitcoin recovered from June lows to trade within a support zone ranging from $57,000 to June 2024 lows.
A break below that level would put August lows back in play, especially if trading volume rises.
However, the uptrend remains intact, at least as long as prices stay within the August 8 trade range.
Still, more convincing price action would be a solid break above $63,000.
Bitcoin dropped into the red with the session’s events, putting it at a 4% loss for the past week.
The broader stock markets remained under significant selling pressure as the coin swung lower.
The slide seen over the past day also saw trading volume drop to around $34 billion.
For now, conservative traders may want to sit on the sidelines, especially as any move above August 8 highs could trigger more buying.
Bitcoin Price Analysis
BTC/USD is edging lower at press time.
While the horizontal consolidation is clear, we need buyers to break higher to confirm the bull bar of August 8.
For now, the coin is within a bullish formation and inside a bull flag.
Note that the sideways move gives bulls a chance from an effort-versus-result perspective.
A break out above $63,000 will likely trigger demand, which should then lift Bitcoin to $70,000.
On the flip side, if sellers press on, aligning price action with sellers of August 4 and 5, BTC might drop below August lows.
In that case, the probability of a bear trend continuation to $40,000 will be high.
