Bitcoin (BTC) Overtakes Amazon and Google After All-Time High
May 21, 2025 at 11:58 pm
Grab a coffee as we explore Bitcoin's position among top assets and the implications of rising treasury yields for Bitcoin.

Welcome to the US Crypto News Morning Briefing—your essential rundown of the most important developments in crypto for the day ahead, starting with:
(Article begins)
Investors are increasingly turning away from U.S. debt sustainability concerns and toward Bitcoin as the Federal Reserve (Fed) buying its own bonds signals inflation fears.
The latest figures show that Bitcoin (BTC) has risen to sixth position in market cap rankings, overtaking Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and closing in on Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN).
At the time of writing, BTC’s market cap stands at $2.16 trillion, a 14% increase since April 23, when US Crypto News reported that the crypto had overtaken the search engine giant.
Now, data from CoinMarketCap shows that BTC’s market cap has risen to $2.16 trillion, while Google’s market cap is $1.97 trillion.
Meanwhile, Amazon’s market cap is $2.34 trillion, slightly ahead of BTC.
“Bitcoin flips Google and is now the 6th largest asset on the planet, overtaking Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) with a market cap of over $2 Trillion. BTC now trails only Gold, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), and Amazon,” wrote Bitward Investment co-founder and COO Dariusz Kowalczyk.
The sentiment on X (formerly Twitter) is that BTC is on the verge of flipping Amazon. This could happen soon, as there is only a modest 2.7% difference in the market cap of the two assets.
Other users are optimistic that BTC could dethrone gold and become the largest asset by market cap rankings.
Indeed, the optimism comes with good reason, considering that BTC remains among the top assets that have attained the $1 trillion market cap threshold in record time.
Amount of Time It Took To Reach $1 Trillion
Bitcoin: 12 years
Facebook: 17 years
Tesla: 18 years
Google: 21 years
