Bitcoin (BTC) Average Mining Cost Is Currently Notably Higher Than The Price

Jun 18, 2024 at 12:30 am

In a new post on X, analyst Ali Martinez has talked about how the average mining cost of BTC is looking like right now.

Bitcoin (BTC) Average Mining Cost Is Currently Notably Higher Than The Price

The average cost of mining 1 Bitcoin is currently around $86,700, according to data from MacroMicro. This is significantly higher than the current price of BTC, which is trading at around $65,800 at the time of writing.

This high mining cost is largely due to the recent halving event, which took place in April and slashed the block rewards in half. This means that miners are now getting paid less for the same amount of work, which is driving up the cost of production for BTC.

However, according to Ali Martinez, an analyst at X, this high mining cost could actually be bullish for Bitcoin in the long run. He notes that, historically, BTC has always surged above its average mining cost.

“This indicator is screaming buy the dip,” said Martinez.

If this pattern continues to hold for the current cycle, then it may only be a matter of time before Bitcoin surges past the $86,700 mark.
