Bitcoin Battle in Arizona: Senator Rogers Vows to Refile Rejected Reserve Bill
May 04, 2025 at 09:21 pm
Senator Wendy Rogers is planning to refile her proposed Arizona Bitcoin Reserve Bill after it was vetoed by Governor Katie Hobbs, the senator announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
Rogers's bill would have seen Bitcoin become part of the state's reserves. It is an idea that has been gaining popularity among U.S. lawmakers in pro-crypto states as they look for ways to hedge against inflation and federal monetary policy.
"Politicians don't understand that Bitcoin doesn't need Arizona. Arizona needs Bitcoin," Rogers said. "I will refile my bill next session."
While Governor Hobbs vetoed the measure, Rogers hinted at a shift in political tides, suggesting that Congressman Andy Biggs could become involved if the governor continues to block the bill.
"If she vetoes it again, I am sure Governor Andy Biggs will be happy to take credit for signing the bill for this already proven (16 years!) innovation that will protect our wealth."
