Crypto giant Binance has expanded its footprint into Syria, taking swift action after recent U.S. and EU policy shifts cleared the path for engagement.

Crypto giant Binance has expanded its footprint into Syria, following recent U.S. and E.U. policy shifts that cleared the path for engagement in the war-torn country.
What Happened: The exchange now offers full trading access to Syrian users, encompassing spot, futures, and peer-to-peer markets, in addition to its Binance Pay remittance service.
The move comes shortly after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the lifting of economic sanctions on May 23, which were largely symbolic given the limited sanctions remaining. The European Union also decided to drop all remaining restrictions on Syria, paving the way for Binance's entry.
With Syria no longer listed as a restricted region in Binance's compliance framework, users can register and access the platform after completing identity verification via Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.

Syrian traders will gain entry to over 300 tokens on Binance, including Bitcoin BTC, XRP, Dogecoin SHIB, Toncoin and Bitcoin Cash BCH. Binance is also rolling out Arabic-language educational content to help new users understand crypto tools and risks.
This re-entry marks a significant step for Syria, where financial infrastructure has been heavily impacted by the war.
The country's youth are juggling unemployment and limited economic prospects, while the role of remittances is crucial for the millions of Syrians still living abroad. Binance's presence could offer a new avenue for cross-border payments and digital financial access.
