Binance Coin (BNB) Sets a New All-Time High (ATH) of $711.56

Jun 05, 2024 at 05:54 pm

The market might be moving sideways, as a few altcoins in the top 10 most capitalized cryptocurrencies are making stealth moves today.

Binance Coin (BNB) Sets a New All-Time High (ATH) of $711.56

Binance Coin (BNB) price soared to a new all-time high (ATH) on Monday, continuing its remarkable journey from trading at an all-time low (ATL) of $0.09611 seven years ago.

The BNB price reached a new ATH of $711.56 on Monday, according to data from CoinGecko. This comes after the coin breached $671 on May 16, 2021, before plunging to a low of $169 during the crypto winter.

The coin was trading at $704.69 at the time of writing, up 12.05% in the past 24 hours and over 17% for the week.

Binance Coin’s Journey to New ATH

The BNB price soared over 730,000% from its ATL to reach $700 in May 2021. This incredible rally was largely driven by the booming decentralized finance (DeFi) sector and the rising popularity of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

However, the crypto winter that followed saw the BNB price crashing to a low of $169 in June 2022. This marked a decline of over 97% from its peak.

Despite the setback, BNB was among the few large-cap altcoins that managed to stay in the top 10 throughout the bear market. This was primarily due to its strong utility within the Binance and BNB Chain ecosystems.

The coin is used to pay for trading fees on Binance, participate in initial exchange offerings (IEOs) on Binance Launchpad, and access a range of other services and benefits.

Moreover, BNB is also used as gas for transactions on BNB Chain, which hosts a growing number of DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, and other decentralized applications (dApps).

The BNB price recovered strongly in 2023, largely driven by the return of bullish momentum in the crypto market and the upcoming launch of BNB Open Gateway (OBG), a cross-chain bridge connecting BNB Chain to other networks.

As reported, OBG will initially integrate Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Gnosis Chain. Further expansions are expected to follow.

The bridge will allow users to seamlessly transfer assets between BNB Chain and other supported networks, facilitating interoperability and unlocking new possibilities for cross-chain DeFi, NFTs, and Web3 applications.
