Binance, Bitget, and Bybit Tease New SOL Tokens, Here's What It Means For Solana
Aug 31, 2024 at 04:00 am
For crypto users, staking has become one of the most popular ways to earn passive income from their tokens. However, to benefit from staking, users have to lock

Solana (SOL) is teasing a new partnership with major cryptocurrency exchanges, and the first hints of what's to come have arrived.
On Thursday, Binance, Bybit, and Bitget all posted cryptic tweets referencing potential Solana-related tokens.
Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange by trading volume, simply tweeted "BNSOL."

Meanwhile, Bitget and ByBit also tweeted. Bitget stated, "Something BG is coming," followed by a reference to “BGSOL.” Additionally, Bybit welcomed a new “baby” to the family, mentioning a token BBSOL.
While the exchanges did not reveal what the tokens would be for, clues quickly emerged. The BNSOL token appeared on Solana Compass, a platform that provides analytics for the Solana ecosystem.
According to Solana Compass, the BNSOL token is designed for Binance Staked SOL.
A staking pool of the same name describes how BNSOL will allow users to unlock their staked Solana. This means that users will be able to earn rewards on their tokens while also spending them however they choose.
What The New Liquid Staking Model Means For Solana
For Proof-of-Stake (PoS) networks like Solana, staking is a crucial function. Staked tokens both secure the network and provide income for validators, who are responsible for providing the computational resources necessary to run the Solana network.
However, in order to receive staking rewards, users must lock up their SOL tokens for a specified period of time. This prevents them from trading these tokens until the staking period expires. The new liquid staking tokens, such as BNSOL, BGSOL, and BBSOL, will eliminate this restriction.
By providing users with more flexibility in staked products, liquid staking tokens will make staking SOL more appealing. This will contribute to the security of Solana's network and increase demand for SOL, ultimately driving up its price.

Why This Matters
For Solana, the new liquid staking product will enhance network participation and security by making staking more accessible and attractive, if it is successful.
