Binance is prepping for a series of network upgrades, including THORChain and Polygon. Here's the lowdown on what it all means for your crypto.

Binance, Bitcoin, and Altcoin Upgrades: What's Coming?
Heads up, crypto enthusiasts! Binance is gearing up for a flurry of network upgrades in December 2025, impacting various altcoins. From THORChain to Polygon, here's a breakdown of what you need to know.
THORChain (RUNE) Network Upgrade
Binance will temporarily halt deposits and withdrawals for all THORChain network tokens starting December 5, 2025, at 20:00. This is to support the upcoming THORChain (RUNE) network upgrade, expected around block height 23,969,500 (approximately 9:00 PM). Trading will continue unaffected. Once the network stabilizes post-upgrade, deposits and withdrawals will resume. No further announcements are expected if all goes smoothly. These upgrades are critical for improving platform security and efficiency.
Polygon (POL) Network Upgrade and Hard Fork
Polygon's also on the upgrade list! Binance will suspend deposits and withdrawals for all Polygon network tokens from December 9, 2025, at 11:00 to support the planned major upgrade and hard fork. The upgrade should occur around block height 80,084,800 (approximately 1:00 PM). Trading across spot, futures, and other products remains open. Like with THORChain, Binance will handle all the technical stuff, and deposits/withdrawals will reopen after stability is confirmed. These Polygon upgrades aim to boost scalability, transaction speed, and security.
Margin Trading Pair Delistings
It's not all upgrades, though. Binance is also removing a bunch of margin trading pairs, particularly those based on FDUSD, starting December 11, 2025. Several cross and isolated margin pairs will be delisted. Credit transactions on the isolated margin side will be suspended from December 8, 2025. On December 11, all positions will be closed, automatic reconciliation performed, and pending orders canceled.
What Does This Mean for You?
If you're holding RUNE or POL, or trading those FDUSD pairs, be aware of these dates and times. Plan your deposits and withdrawals accordingly. It's all about staying informed to avoid any hiccups.
Final Thoughts
Binance's support for these upgrades highlights the ongoing evolution of the crypto space. While temporary restrictions might be a bit of a pain, they ultimately lead to improved network performance and security. So, sit tight, maybe grab some popcorn, and watch these upgrades unfold. The future of crypto is being built, one upgrade at a time!
